Absolutely!
V for Vendetta is returning to U.S. theaters nationwide for its 20th anniversary on November 1 and November 5, 2026, the latter falling on Guy Fawkes Night. The screenings arrive around the November 3 midterm elections, and Memezar summed up the timing: âTurns out this one aged a little too well.â
Warner Bros. Pictures, Saga Arts and Fathom Entertainment are behind the re-release. Tickets are on sale through FathomEntertainment.com, and each screening includes Freedom Forever, a new featurette in which director James McTeigue discusses the filmâs influences and the continued relevance of its themes. A new trailer was released on September 18.
The film follows a masked revolutionary fighting Norsefire, the fascist regime ruling a dystopian Britain through surveillance, propaganda, curfews and fear surrounding a government-engineered virus. McTeigue directed from a screenplay by Lana and Lilly Wachowski, based on the graphic novel created by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. Natalie Portman stars as Evey Hammond, with Hugo Weaving as V.
The movie opened widely on March 17, 2006, after early screenings in late 2005, and earned roughly $132 million to $135 million worldwide. Its Guy Fawkes mask later became a protest symbol used by Anonymous, Occupy Wall Street and demonstrators around the world.
Moore rejected the adaptation, asked for his name to be removed from the credits and refused payment, while Lloyd approved of the film. Portmanâs on-camera head shaving was real and completed in 1 take.
