JULY HIGHLIGHT: Getting to join the Chicago fam to watch the screening of “Summer Tour,” directed by produced by Chloë Sevigny ❤️⚡️💙 What a long, strange trip…

It all began in LA at The Kia Forum on Shakedown, when I met and had to grab one of his iconic Uncle John shirts for my Ryan. It was a small way to show my love for his support while he held down the fort in Chicago, allowing me to bounce in and out of 13 shows that tour… chasing the music with a 4-year-old at home. I’ve always managed to make the first and last shows, just like every tour & run since the rebirth of “the band beyond description.”

Fast forward ⏩ When we did the 3-day run in Boulder that year, we ran into Matt again, and he and Ry were both wearing his RH shirt. Then, at the last show in SF, they appropriately opened and closed the 3-day run with “Not Fade Away.”

It all came full circle in Chicago when Matt took the stage to introduce such an intimate film documenting these kids’ journey. So many roads. 🚎💨 I don’t know what I enjoyed more—the film, Matt’s account of his 2020 “Ghost Tour,” or the music that followed. Needless to say, being a part of the love and feeling of that summer brought a smile to my face, reliving memories I’ll carry with me forever. 💀

The film was very well done & brought us right back home. Seeing Mason’s Children play for only the second time (the first was a year ago on the Haight for the 60th in SF) was special. They’re electric—bossy like Pigpen, soulful like Jerry, and prolific like Bobby.

We’re all lucky to have enjoyed the ride, to have embraced the 10 more years Dead & Company gave us, and to reconnect with old friends while making new ones among family for life. It was a particular highlight to feel like I was playing “I-Spy” with the countless sisters and brothers I hold close to my heart (and always will). 👀 Dancin’ and spreading the good love.

Thank you for keeping it alive; it feels good to be passing the torch to the next generation, where it all comes full circle… AND THE BAND KEEPS PLAYING ON.

Bobby, you gave us so much. You changed my life—being grateful is an understatement. You brought me home. Thank you for all you did for the world; it will never be the same, yet we are all better for feeling your music. You rocked our souls. So many roads… It looks like rain, and it surely feels like rain. 😭

I cannot begin to express what your music, the family, community, and the countless shows filled with memorable Bobby moments have done for all of us. It’s our medicine, our vacation, our purpose—it’s the soundtrack of our lives. Spreading the love. Good love. I met my love, at your show (Chicago Theatre, October 2016). I want to rewind all the tapes and fast forward… But we can’t go back, and we can’t stand still. ⚡️ My child heard and felt you in the womb. Weir everywhere. Weir not going anywhere. The music will never stop.
