Like many new moms, she found herself looking for ways to contribute a little extra income while still having something that felt creative and fulfilling. As a lifelong reader, Makenna decided to combine her love of books with her God given entrepreneurial spirit and opened an Etsy shop selling digital bookish downloads. What began as a handful of printable bookmarks and reading trackers quickly grew into something more. As readers started discovering her shop and supporting her work, Makenna realized there was a demand for thoughtful, beautiful bookish products that celebrated the joy of reading. It all started when via FaceTime her grandson Jaxson asked for a bedtime story about "...the ceiling fan because it's making a funny noise." Turns out there was a dust bunny up there, and he was singing. (Not well. Hence the noise.)

"Once upon a time I was a weird and nerdy kid with a taste for World War II history, JRR Tolkien, and Larry Hama's GI Joe comic books. Then I got into Tom Clancy, Stephen Hunter, Robert Heinlein, and so on. I still have a bit of a book hoarding problem.
To make a long story short, I finally finished up at Ole Miss then walked into a recruiting office and spent several years being much cooler than I am now, while abusing my liver and tearing up my knees.
