Building Sandcastles captures a moment I love—four children at the shore, each lost in their own world. One leans forward, another crouches into the sand, a third strides toward the water. Warm sandy tones meet cool oceanic blue, with pops of red and neon green that bring the scene to life. Loose, energetic brushwork suggests the quick motion and fleeting attention of a perfect beach day.

I wanted to share "Old Men." Sunlight slants across a weathered porch where a row of seated figures convene in low conversation and quiet presence. The palette leans toward cool blues and soft umbers, with a red cap and a flash of warm sienna that anchor the scene, while soft edges let the figures merge with shadow and sidewalk and small gestures, a lifted hand and a leaning shoulder, suggest routine and connection. I painted this moment because I wanted to capture something I see all the time at the shore: a mother and child completely absorbed in each other. There's a quietness to it, even with the play happening. The soft colors felt right for that tenderness, and painting the water around them became a way to hold the whole scene—the peace of the place, the closeness between them. It's the kind of moment that makes you want to pause.

A wide evening sky moves from clear blue into turquoise at the horizon, with creamy whites and soft peaches floating among angular clouds. Bands of warm gold and coral slip across the middle ground while a low dark silhouette of land settles behind them. A ribbon of water mirrors the sky in cool blues with unexpected flashes of pink and teal, and marsh edges glow with chartreuse, saffron, and pale apricot. I wanted to hold that calm, shifting light in a piece that feels gentle and a little decisive.
