RESTORATION OF A LUEDINGHAUS WAGON

One of the famous St. Louis wagon builders Henry Luedinghaus started his business around 1858 and in 1887 merged with the Espenschied wagon company. The company survived well into the 30’s. I have a copy of their last wagon catalog.

A lot of research is required before starting restoration of a wagon. We try to put it back like it was when it came from the factory. Sometimes due to limited information on a wagon we have to do some educated guessing. With the help of our friend David Sneed (Wheels That Won The West) we were able to identify the mfg. by the unusual design of the reach plate. The remains of this wagon had of course no paint. When taking off the metal parts we discovered bright yellow paint under the metal which we were able to duplicate. This wagon was very old having belonged to the clients great grandfather. The only Luedinghaus wagon I could locate is in the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis. They were kind enough to send me pictures with the name on the side board but this wagon was from a later time period. I did find a black and white image of a much older logo which would date back to the mfg. of this wagon. No color of course so here comes the educated guess. Beautifully and authentically restored Bain wagon. Mfg. around the turn of
the century. This wagon is a show piece and is an example of the beautiful
and ornate pin striping wagon companies did in the early days.

GRAIN WAGON - Very good condition. This Geo. Clark Grain King box with
tongue and groove side boards sets on a North Western gear manufactured in
Atkinson, WS. This wagon has been in storage since around 1949. We are the
second owners. 38 inch box, 40 inch front wheels and 46 inch back wheels.
This wagon has a John Deere seeder mounted on the back. All I know about the
seeder is it was working when the wagon was put in the barn. It needs a
