Buckle up, this one might be long!
I finished The Lost Metal. I finished Mistborn Era 2.
Let's start with just this book. When I started this book, I dreaded it. Not because I thought it was going to be awful or anything. I didn't want the series to be over. I love Wax, Wayne, Steris, and Marasi. They are wonderfully written characters, complex with each one having a very different perspective and personality. The callbacks to the original series in this one hit me so much harder than the others in this series. It broke my heart and rebuilt it over and over again. The wrap up was bittersweet and heart wrenching, but beautifully done. I truly cannot wait until Mistborn Era 3.

Now, as a whole series I loved it. I cannot recommend this series enough. It's fun, and heart wrenching at the same time. It feels like a warm hug. It's new without being too much like Era 1, and even the subtle nods to Era 1 are wonderfully done. The character growth is absolutely incredible. Especially Steris. I came in to book 1 and didn't really like her. By Bands of Mourning, she was my favorite. Her character growth is almost inspiring, especially if you are an over thinker like myself.
I think Mistborn is a perfect jumping point when starting with Brandon Sanderson. It's not too big, or too complicated. Read Era 1, then jump into Era 2. I also recommend reading Mistborn: The Secret History after Bands of Mourning, and before The Lost Metal. It will make it make more sense.

First Book Review of the Year 2026!
So, full transparency, I finished this book on the 10th of January. I started it on December 20th. This was a ROUGH read for me. As much as I enjoy a Historical Fiction, this one just didn't hit me the way I thought it would. Other reviews seem to be the same thoughts, as far as I had seen. I would take a lot of this story as fiction. It made Mary Queen of Scots, to me, almost seem immature and almost kind of dumb, in a way. I'm not sure how to word it. I rated it 3 stars. Sometimes, it was good and would catch my attention, others I would wonder when it was going to be over.
Try it for yourselves, if you would like.

Book Review! Last review of the year!
I might do something for the end of the year for my books in a year.
Holly is a novella of the Belladonna series, which was one of my favorites last year. Highly recommend.
Holly is a Christmas novella after the events of Wisteria. This is possibly the Prettiest book I own, I included pictures, which are slightly spoilery, if you know who is in them.
I loved the book. It got me in the Christmas spirit😉 (Iykyk) The characters went more in depth, I loved how they interact. I love seeing the growth of the relationships and how they can all work as one to solve the problem within the story. Also, the tease of a new book at the end?
Dive into this Christmas wonderland with Signa Farrow and her cousin Blythe and enjoy their slight Christmas of Chaos as one happy family.❤️

Brandon Sanderson Review!
I finished Bands of Mourning and The Secret History.
Let's start with Bands of Mourning. This one is the first to tug on my heart strings for these specific characters. Steris is becoming a fast favorite of mine. The lore of the world is getting so much deeper than it seemed. A specific white haired character shows up mid way through. Iykyk. Wax and Wayne's friendship in this one also got to me a little bit. They are complete ride or die best friends. Just, incredible. Loved it. Have the next one on order from the library. 5/5 stars.

Next! Mistborn Secret History.
Brandon, I would like a few words.
My heart was ripped out of my chest with this book. I don't want to give a ton away about it. If you have read Mistborn Era 1, be prepared going into this. I will give you a quote that SHATTERED me. "And she loved him anyway. He held his daughter close against his own broken soul."
5/5 stars.

So, I'm a little behind in reviews, so buckle up for a few over the next couple days!😂
Last Twilight In Paris was a mystery cover that I borrowed from my library. It is a historical fiction set in WWII era Paris, France. It is told from two different views, a Jewish woman during the war and a woman post-war from London, and how they are connected.
First, I love historical fiction, especially WWII era historical fiction stories (I have some recommendations, if you want).
This book is very similar to another historical fiction I read late last year called Sarah's Key.
I liked the characters and the story. It gives another perspective of how Paris treated the Jewish people during the war. How quickly those whom you call friends can turn their back. How men that were involved were trying to piece their lives back together after the things they had seen. How a woman that was trying to help with war efforts also dealt with the trauma of what she had seen and done. And how one incredibly lucky find of a piece of jewelry will bring you back to where you once were.
I put this one at 4/5 stars.

If It Bleeds by Stephen King. This is the second book in the Holly Gibney "series". I only put quotations because this book actually is filled with four different stories, and only one brings us back to Holly Gibney, after the events of The Outsider.
So, I will review this as a whole, then as the stories themselves.
As a whole I enjoyed the book itself. The stories were fun and really made you think about what was going on in them individually.
Let's start with the first story, Mr. Harrigan's Phone, this story at points weirdly felt like a deal with Apple? But, it was fun to see the progress of technology through the story itself. How people reacted to the first iPhone, and through a perspective of a younger man, teaching an older man, how to use it. I won't spoil the entire story for you. It was good, the story was fun, it was interesting. It did not immediately grab my attention, but ended up doing so as I continued. It dealt with loss and grief. It dealt with how you would love to make one of those last phone calls, just to hear someone's voice and tell them about your life as it was going. Overall, enjoyed it.
Next! The Life of Chuck. I really loved this story. I would love a full novel of this story. Shows what the imagination can do, and how you impact the world. It was somewhat light-hearted and it was just overall fascinating.
Third was the title of the book, If It Bleeds. This brings us back to Holly at Finder's Keepers. I loved getting to know more of Holly as a character, seeing more of her life and circumstances. I loved seeing her development. The story was creepy, mind expanding, and lovely. (And you can bet I have the next one already here)
The last one.. Rat. I like the premise of the story, definitely in a "Monkey Paw" scenario. I wasn't overly excited while reading it, more just ready to finish the book overall. I like the character and watching his descent, almost into madness. I could enjoy those little moments. Overall, wasn't bad, just not a favorite.
I recommend this, if you like short stories, Stephen King does great writing that makes your mind twist.

Oh, Crooked Kingdom. This is the sequel to Six of Crows.
The character growth and subtle changes to each of the characters, was so well done. Each character has a distinct personality and it made you want to see the continuance of their relationships. The ending was wonderful, I almost shed some tears.
Leigh Bardugo has slowly become a favorite of mine. As you can see from past posts, I have been reading a lot from her lately. I cannot recommend her books more. Even the tone shift from each of the series, is so wonderfully executed.

Alright, I just finished this book and immediately needed to get my thoughts out.
I loved this book. I have always been a James Patterson fan. But this just proved to me why.
The suspense in this book is great. It kept me on my toes. It made me angry with the characters. It made me happy with them. It made me want to figure it all out.
I highly recommend it if you are a fan of a Mystery Thriller option.
