July. Sucked.
We started the month with the expected loss of a very loved ferret, Oreo. He passed surrounded by snuggles, cuddles, and so much love. As heartbreaking as it was, we're grateful he lived such a full, happy life and was able to leave this world knowing just how loved he was.
Not even a week later, my baby, Zamera, ended up in the ICU. Okay... she isn't technically a "baby," but she is my baby.
We're still not exactly sure what happened, and it will be a very, very long time before I can honestly say, "I'm okay." Watching your child turn blue and struggle to breathe is something no parent ever imagines having to experience.
But she came out on top. She's back to living every day as fully as she can, and I have to let her... even though every instinct in me wants to wrap her up in bubble wrap and never let her out of my sight again. I won't, no matter how hard it is.
I could never express how grateful I am for the incredible medical staff who helped us through one of the most traumatic experiences of our lives. They were patient, compassionate, and so incredibly kind to both Zamera and our family. We will never forget them.
Of course, July wasn't quite finished with us yet.
We finally made it home from the hospital and started settling back into whatever "normal" is these days, just in time for my other daughter, Ela, to give us another beautiful granddaughter.
She was quickly taken to the NICU, where she has remained since making her entrance into this crazy world. She has an amazing team caring for her, and every single day she's getting a little stronger and one step closer to coming home. I've only been able to see her once, and I haven't even gotten to hold her yet... but I know she's exactly where she needs to be. She is safe, she is loved beyond measure, and she's already proving she's a little spitfire.
I'm sorry this was so long. I just wanted to let you all know that I'm still here. I'm still creating, still designing new and wonderful things for you, and still doing my best to keep moving forward while our family heals.
Thank you all for your continued support, love, kindness, prayers, and patience. They have meant more than you'll ever know.
This is a picture of our newest little addition. ❤️
