Sasquatch Backpacking

Sasquatch cinches up his blue backpack, taking care not to catch any fur in the straps. He adjusts his polls to their full length and munches a handful of gorp. Then he’s off.

If you happen across his path, he’ll likely invite you to join — but be ready for a jog. Sasquatch tries to be mindful of his human companions, but he always forgets himself and goes back to his long, steady strides. If you can keep up with him, you’ll start to notice a sound like low thunder. It’s Sasquatch humming. He likes Pete Seeger and Bob Dylan — the deep cuts.

Sasquatch Fly Fishing

The cares of life weigh heavy on us all, and Sasquatch is no stranger to the daily slog of things to do and people to see. Sometimes he just needs to get away from it all.

If you see him by the river, casting smooth lines like a work of art over the water, stay back! Even Sasquatch needs a little “me” time, and even though he’ll probably act polite when you approach — the truth is, he’d rather be alone right now. Hear that sigh of relief as he casts again? That’s the weight of the world, dropping off Sasquatch’s shoulders.

Sasquatch Snowboarding

“Shredding the gnar” means something very different in Sasquatch language, so we’d suggest avoiding that one. But! Sasquatch has a real passion for fresh pow pow and always starts the season on the slopes. He can jib, grab, and grind with the best.

If you’re riding up a lift and spot him tearin’ it up, enjoy the moment. You won’t see moves like this till the next Olympics.

Sasquatch Skiing

His skis are old — VERY old — carved from a tree he fell with his bare hands. Sasquatch was skiing when you barely knew how to crawl.

You might glimpse him on the slopes when the powder’s fresh and the air is crisp, a dark form speeding across a white backdrop. Sasquatch avoids resorts and has never ridden a lift. He doesn’t wear a helmet. He’s old school — and he’s very, very good. If you fancy yourself an expert skier, you might not want to watch Sasquatch on the slopes. He’ll make you feel bad.

Sasquatch Rifle Hunting

When the air turns crisp and the forest goes still, Sasquatch heads out with his rifle — a relic from another era, polished by time and legend. He doesn’t need tags or seasons; the woods are his to roam. You won’t hear a shot, but you might catch a faint echo rolling through the valley, or see a campfire flicker where no one should be.

He’s not hunting for trophies — he’s hunting for peace, patience, and maybe dinner. If you do cross paths, don’t worry; Sasquatch never misses, but he’s never aimed at anything that didn’t need shooting.

Sasquatch Archery Bow Hunting

Every fall, while hunters anxiously await their wild game tags, Sasquatch has already bagged several elk. For Sasquatch, hunting season is all year long—he has a gentleman’s agreement with the local authorities.

If you should chance upon Sasquatch in the woods, don’t be afraid. He’s probably practicing his archery skills or out to hunt big game. Take a moment to admire his bow and arrows, which he whittled from petrified wood. His newly acquired compound bow is also worthy of admiration; Sasquatch confiscated it a few years back from a hunter who mistook him for a bear. That’s a mistake you don’t make twice.

Sasquatch Mountain Biking

You might imagine that Sasquatch would look awkward on a bike—his fur tangled in the spokes, his torso towering over the handlebars. But in fact, the first time Sasquatch threw his leg over a bike, he felt like he’d finally come home. Now, there are two things that come naturally to Sasquatch: striking a pose for a blurry photo... and mountain biking.

If you see him strapping on a helmet, get ready for a rollicking ride. From the mesas of Moab to the fjords of Norway, he rides like the wind and tackles the most technical sections with fearless velocity. Try to keep up.

Sasquatch Rock Climbing

Furry hands white with chalk, Sasquatch takes a deep breath and steps up to the rock. It’s go time. Not a big fan of climbing “on belay,” he’d rather ascend without a rope. Which might seem dangerous—but really, Sasquatch never falls.

If you’ve never seen someone climb a 5.16, today is your day. Sasquatch has yet to find a rock (or tree, or building) he can’t climb. And if you’re thinking of recommending one of the better climbing destinations around the country, chances are Sasquatch has already been there. He’s been spotted at Otter Cliff, Gibraltar Rock and El Capitan.
