Earning a college degree is no easy feat!!! The journey 🚶🏽‍♀️to this goal has been long, with many obstacles and detours 🛣️ but after countless challenges including a global pandemic, it’s finally happening 🥹… May 3rd 2023 👩🏽‍🎓 Degree in Early Care and Education 👩🏽‍🏫… I say to those that need encouragement—> whatever situation you may find yourself in, find that dream you once had, and pick it up again and do not let it go dormant—I promise you that the world needs what you have inside of you 💪🏾 (Graduate Dinner Party May 20th and Photo Shoot Pics loading soon 📸)

Let me save you time sharing what I learned about being a Nail Tech 👌🏽

🙅🏽‍♀️Some people are under the wrong impression that nail technicians are robots, who don’t need rest or food and whose sole purpose is to serve their clients. Unfortunately for the clients, this is not the case. In your career, you will most likely be faced with a couple of people who have this very specific outlook on your profession.
•
🧞‍♀️People will want you to work miracles, like “squeeze” them in when you have already told them numerous times that you’re fully booked, or help them even though you are deadly ill and in bed. Some people won’t care that you actually stop working at six and have a partner and children who need you. Clients who want insanely difficult and intricate designs, but book on your closing time AND end up being late!
•
👩🏽‍🏫There are so many more scenarios, and I’m sure that at least one has resonated with you. Don’t allow people to walk over you, and trust me they will try and do just that. Everyone has their limits, so stop giving in before you reach yours! Set your boundaries and stick to them.

😷 👩🏽‍🔬 On a daily basis, nail technicians are exposed to toxic chemicals that include acetone, formaldehyde, ethyl acetate, dibutyl phthalate or dangerous combinations of these chemicals. These chemicals often appear in common nail care products, including nail polish and remover, nail primer, fingernail glue
and remover, nail hardener and artificial nail liquid. Nail technicians breathe the fumes from these chemicals as they do manicures. That’s why we wear face mask not just for Covid-19
•
🫁 The harsh chemicals used in nail salons can irritate the skin easily. Technicians with pre-existing asthmatic conditions may have difficulty breathing or suffer continual asthma attacks because of the dust, chemicals and vapors
•
🤒 Nail technicians can be exposed to bloodborne diseases such as hepatitis, HIV and other infectious diseases. If a client’s skin is pierced or broken and the nail technician comes into contact with infected blood, they can contract these potentially life-threatening diseases
•
🧤Nail technicians can be exposed to fungal infections that rest on a customer's finger and toenails. When a nail technician touches infected skin or uses unsanitized equipment from another customer, they can contract fungal infections like athlete’s foot unless they protects their hands with gloves
•
😩 Nail technicians work long hours leaning over a table, doing repetitive motions that include filing and buffing. Their wrists and hands rest on hard surfaces, causing strain to muscles, joints, ligaments, nerves and tendons
•
🧴Constant hand washing and use of harsh chemicals can lead to dry, broken or cracked skin. This can become painful and hinder a nail technician’s ability to do their job. Since nail technicians deal with sharp tools, there is also a risk of cuts to the skin.
