✨ PRINTING WITH AMACO CERAMIC INKS ✨

Spaces are filling up for this hands-on surface decoration workshop, and you won’t want to miss it!

Come experiment with AMACO Ceramic Inks and explore the possibilities of ceramic printmaking. You’ll learn how to create your own craft foam stamps and experiment with silk screens, stencils, and stamps on bisque tiles and slabbed clay.

Layer patterns and motifs, play with overlapping designs and color variation, and discover how transparent and semi-transparent glazes transform your printed surfaces. It’s a fun opportunity to experiment with texture, translucency, layering, and color and take your ideas in new directions!

🖌️ All materials provided, including inks, silk screens, craft foam, greenware, and bisque tiles for experimentation.

📢Join us for a half-day workshop this October! 📢

Workshop participants will explore surface decoration by using AMACO Ceramic Inks and create handmade craft foam stamps, plus use silk-screens and stencils to create layered designs on a bisque tile and slabbed clay.

This process allows participants to experiment with stamping pattens and motifs on the surface, learning how to build visual depth through layering, overlapping, and color variation. Once the printed designs are dry, participants can apply a transparent or semi-transparent glaze to reveal how colors interact beneath and above the glaze layer, emphasizing the relationship between texture, translucency, and design.

Sign up for one of these two half-day workshops on October 24th (9AM - 12:30PM or 1:30PM - 5PM), located at the Columbia Art Center, and open to all who are interested, not just MCAS members. Registration is $10, and spots will be filled on a first-come first-served basis - use the link in our bio to register!

Join us on Saturday, August 22nd at 11:30AM to stroll through the opening of the exhibition of Body Matters at the Columbia Museum of Art - it's free for SC residents, and something we think everyone will enjoy!

Join us at 6:30 on Tuesday for our regular meeting at the Columbia Art Center - where we'll be doing something a little different! MCAS member Debora Life will guide us in making our own bamboo brush, using techniques she learned at a workshop. Brush making supplies will be provided. Bring small scissors if you have them.

We'll also share our favorite tip related to underglazes, slips, washes or glaze. Feel free to bring a tool that you find useful in your process to show and tell, especially your favorite brushes.

Meet Anna Kristina Mandell at our Spring Sale at Stormwater Studios 🌿

Meet Renee Rouillier at our Spring Sale at Stormwater Studios 🌿

With over 40 years in the arts, Renee Rouillier brings a body of sculptural ceramic work that speaks—clearly and without hesitation. Her pieces often reflect on issues shaping our world, using clay as a way to process, question, and respond.

Meet Anne Schultz at our Spring Sale at Stormwater Studios 🌿

Spring has clearly gotten into Anne’s hands—in the best way. She’s bringing a fresh collection of vessels made for cut flowers (the kind you impulsively gather on a walk), along with bowls and platters meant for both everyday use and those slightly more special moments that sneak into daily life.

She’ll also have raku-fired art pottery, full of subtle shifts and dynamic patterns—each piece carrying that quiet unpredictability that makes raku so captivating.
