Flowers may be more than just a beautiful gesture.
Research suggests that receiving or interacting with flowers can be associated with improved mood, reduced stress, and greater feelings of positive emotion. Some studies have also observed short term changes in stress related measures such as cortisol and blood pressure.
The effect is not limited to women, and flowers should not be considered a treatment for anxiety or depression. But a simple bouquet can be a meaningful way to brighten someone’s day and create a positive emotional experience.
