On grand pup duty tonight! 🐶💛
While my daughter and son-in-law are at the hospital welcoming the most adorable new baby, these three little ones were so excited to play when I showed up. Pure chaos and silliness — just what I needed!
So happy for our growing family and grateful for these sweet pups keeping me company.

Officially in my grandma era as of yesterday. Mama and baby are doing amazing.

Banana & babies check-in 💛🐣
Went out to check on Mama Banana and her little ones today. The kids have been trying to figure out names for them!
I noticed they already have different tail and wing feather development. I’m not sure how to tell what they are yet. Anyone have tips for sexing baby chicks this young?
What do you all think… boy or girl? Drop your guesses below!

Anyone planting a fall garden?
So far I planted peas, beans, radishes and more carrots. 🥕
What else should I get in the ground to expand our self sufficiency?

Garden update: Hand-pollinating the pumpkins today! 🎃🌱
A bunch of our pumpkin plants are flowering, but with all the wildland smoke in the air there’s almost no bee activity. So we’re stepping in to make sure we still get a few pumpkins this fall.
It’s a super easy process:
Find a male flower (no baby pumpkin at the base), tear the petals back to expose the stamen, then use that to pollinate the female flowers (the ones with a tiny pumpkin already forming at the base).
Simple, quick, and it can really save your harvest when the pollinators aren’t out!
Like if you’re dealing with smoky days and low bee activity too 😅, comment your best hand-pollination tips or what you’re growing this year, and follow for more Wenatchee homestead garden updates, farm life, and real growing tips!
