Based on recent run-ins, some folks have missed the news we are indeed moving, yes. For those of you already aware, some updates:
We're playing it by-ear, like an improv string quartet in a submarine being bombarded by enemy torpedoes, but the general idea is that October is effectively our last month in Covington, as we initially projected. The new space on Ludlow is nearing the stage where painting, bookcase installation & general "fancyin' up" is imminent once the last of the new HVAC is settled (nearly done).
The wild card here is a certificate of occupancy from the city, which is a bit tenebrous in terms of its swiftness, so what we'll mostly be at the mercy of, is paperwork. I am hoping for the best with this so we can open at the end of October or the dawn of November, as any later is truly putting my ass in what can charitably be called, "the electric chair of financial punishment," as the land of Two Commercial Rents Being Paid Simultaneously in Two States looms on the horizon.
Loans that were being hoped for to sustain us & give some needed flotation & air have thus far proved elusive, though there could be some light in that particular tunnel, hopefully. Everything thus far has been accomplished by money from sales (as we suffer thru construction) & the beautiful generosity of people donating to our gofundme page. We're open in Covington for the Cincy Bookstore Crawl this weekend as well as the following weekend & I'll be setting up a table at the amazing CINCINNATI VINTAGE FEST that Saturday in Northside. Whether we stay open for the duration of October after that, or have to look into options for some portion of November is not, alas, very clear right now, but we will let you know our last day of operation on this side of the river for those who want to come down, bid adieu to the space which has served us for nearly five years, which y'all have helped, in chorus, sustain, before hurtling into the future.
