The Honeymoon dahlia rising with the sunrise. Tell us which variety you are growing this season!
Lots of buzz for aussie & new hybridized varieties. But this tried and true plant pumps out blooms great for vase and show. Big, Pretty orange to peach hues. 6-8" blooms. B size, Informal decorative.

When July is a hot mess, flower farming requires equal parts determination, sunscreen, and iced tea. And since the Sweet Peas keep showing up for work, I will too.
Harvested these gorgeous Sweet Peas for bud vases. When I brought them inside and pulled out this little vase, I couldn't help but laugh...with temperatures like these, this seems like the most appropriate attire for working in the garden. 🤣
The Sweet Peas, however, don't seem to mind the heat nearly as much as I do. While they're considered a cool-season flower, they're still producing oodles of blooms with the most incredible fragrance. Just a few stems in a bud vase bring all the cottage garden charm to your space.

Happy TGIF, flower friends! Starting your day with a little vintage charm and a whole lot of pansy joy. 💜

These Swiss Giant pansies were winter sowed from seed, and they have been so easy and satisfying to grow. They stay low to the ground, form sweet little mounds, and bloom best in cool weather. In my area, they can be perennial, giving color in spring, taking a rest when the heat settles in, and then rewarding the garden with another round of blooms in fall. They grow fine in part-shade and even into July, they will still be blooming as long as I continue cutting the flowers.

If you are looking for an easy flower to grow from seed, Swiss Giant pansies are a wonderful choice. They are beautiful in pots, borders, window boxes, and vintage containers—and their big, velvety blooms bring so much personality to the garden. I bought these seeds from Botanical Interests and would absolutely grow them again.

Knee‑high by the Fourth of July🌽
Midwest farmers know the saying about corn—but maybe it can be said for dahlias too?! 🌸
It’s only June 20, and these beauties (& many others) are already knee high! If this start means anything, I’m hoping for huge, prolific blooms and armloads of flowers all summer long. 💐

Let's celebrate the joy of gardening together! Share your favorite garden companions in the comments.😀 Here are some of mine. It's the perfect moment to invite hummingbirds to flourish in your yard. Here's how:

🚨 Hummingbird friends—run, don’t walk! The Perky-Pet Pinch-Waist Glass Hummingbird Feeder at Walmart is on sale, and it’s my favorite. If you grab one, consider buying an extra for spare parts because the yellow guards or top hook can wear out over time.

💡 Quick tip: There’s a silver hook under the cap, or you can use electrician wire to hang it from a shepherd’s hook, porch, house, or wherever your hummingbirds visit. The yellow guards click in tightly, which helps keep curious birds from popping them off.

🥄 Easy nectar recipe: Mix 1 part refined white sugar (Domino brand) with 4 parts water. Stir until dissolved, let it cool, then serve cold.

⚠️ Use refined white sugar only. Avoid raw, organic, turbinado, brown sugar, honey, sweeteners, or red dye—those can be unsafe for hummingbirds, even fatal.

🧼 Keep it fresh: Change the nectar often and clean the feeder every 3–7 days, or more often during hot weather.

For my 3 feeders in total, I mix ¾ cup sugar with 4 cups water— ! 🌺
