Wrapping up my birthday feeling incredibly grateful š
My boys surprised me with beautiful flowers (with a little help from my mom š„¹), and I also got amazing Guggenhein scissors and a portable steamer that Iām so excited to useāthank you Mom and Dad š¤
I had the honor of delivering a set of memory bears to a customer today. He had them made for his daughter and granddaughter using his wifeās clothing, and they turned out so incredibly special. Iāll share them soon š¤
After that, I spent part of the day doing things I loveāmaking an extra-long prototype back scrubber for my dad to test out since he has shoulder issues and taking a short walk with the dogs.
Dinner tonight was filled with a lot of nostalgic favorites. We had hotdogs sliced open on a bed of mashed potatoes with paprika and sauerkraut tucked insideāsomething my dadās Aunt Marlis always made when sheād take me for the day. She always had me call her Grandma Marlis, and weād bake cookies together, then play double solitaire at the kitchen table while everything baked š¤
We also had macaroni and cheese on the side because for years that was my momās birthday meal. Since he was about five years old, my oldest son would make hotdogs and macaroni and cheese for her every year because it was something he could do mostly on his own. Heās 19 now, and it felt really special bringing back so many memories through food today š„¹
And for dessertāyellow cake with chocolate frosting in memory of my grandpa because it was his favorite š¤
And yesā¦ the candles say 18 š I saved my sonās candles from his 18th birthday last year, and my mom insists Iām only 18 because if I get olderā¦ that means she gets older too š
To end the night, I got to enjoy a long bubble bath with minimal interruptionsāwhich honestly felt like the ultimate birthday gift š
