🌸Hightunnel Cosmos🌸

Yes, we do all of our cosmos in a Hightunnel. I know some will not agree with that and that’s fine.

The reason we do is because cosmos ended up being a waste of time for us when planted outside. They lasted a few weeks before the weather got them and made them crooked.

They became more in demand for florists in our area so we decided to give them a little more TLC in the tunnels.
We’ve learned they get a longer stem and are able to grow significantly taller in the tunnels. They also develop a very thick stalk thats great for supporting them compared to growing them outside.

Again, this is what we do. It’s not the written in stone way to grow cosmos.

To some this will just be a picture of Nigella. But for me it’s an answered prayer.

The time between spring and summer is always a stretch with flowers. Spring flowers are finished but summer flowers aren’t ready.

Yesterday morning I was about to email our markets to tell them we wouldn’t be making it because we just didn’t have enough to come.

But then I walked to the back of one of our fields and found this patch of Nigella and other flowers that self seeded from last year.

For the past few weeks I have worried and stressed over having enough flowers. I have prayed and prayed that we would somehow make things work and here we are. I feel so foolish for ever thinking God couldn’t find a way.

Some might say this is just luck or circumstance. That’s fine. You have a right to believe what you want to believe. But this is what I believe. The timing of finding this Nigella was too perfect.
