The Tunnel of Trees is a big part of what we do around here.

We drive it. We photograph it. We talk about it (probably too much). And, naturally, we design a few things inspired by it, too.

Throwback time!

Twelve years ago today, we were part of the Detroit @ CTAC Creative Runway Fashion Show at Petoskey's Crooked Tree Arts Center.

Throughout the summer of 2014, Crooked Tree Arts Center celebrated Detroit's artists, musicians, filmmakers, designers, and makers through its Detroit @ CTAC exhibition. The Creative Runway fashion show and Detroit Artists & Makers Vendor Fair brought that energy to Northern Michigan—and we were honored to be part of it.

That weekend was the first time we shared Peninsulas with the world—and one of our first tastes of the area we would eventually call home.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us in Berkley, Cross Village, online, and through our retail partners over the past 12 years. We couldn't have done it without you!

There’s still plenty of tree-lined, winding M-119 to enjoy—you just need to know where to go.

If you've shopped with us in Cross Village before, you may have noticed a little something tucked in with your purchase: a Peninsulas matchbook.

The design changes from year to year, but the idea behind them hasn't. As much as we embrace the modern world, we've always had one foot firmly planted in the past—especially when it comes to good design, old-school advertising, and those little details that somehow made things feel more special.

So yes, we still give out matchbooks. And yes, they contain actual matches.

Few bodies of water can be recognized by their outline alone.

Seriously... would you recognize the shape of Lake Winnipesaukee? The Caspian Sea? Walden Pond?

We didn't think so.

Our Canadian neighbors really know how to do summer. This oversized beaver float is the perfect Lake Michigan vessel for a lazy day.

Robert's niece and her daughter are in town visiting, and Cross Village Beach was the perfect place to take the giant Float-eh Beaver for a spin. (Say it out loud... Float-eh. )

Big enough for making memories. Silly enough to make everyone smile.

If you know Sherri, you know she never comes home from the beach empty-handed.

Look what washed up—a hagstone from the shores of Lake Michigan!

Also known as an adder stone or witch stone, a hagstone is a rock with a naturally formed hole, created over years of water and sand erosion. Folklore says these stones can reveal fairies, protect against bad luck, or even serve as a portal to another realm.

Or... it's just a really cool rock with a hole in it.

Either way, it's coming home with us.
