Some spaces are inspired by trends. Others are inspired by culture.

This remodel has quickly become one of my favorite spaces.

The inspiration came from Afrohemian design, layering Moroccan-inspired arches, warm wood tones, natural textures, and handcrafted lighting to create something that feels collected instead of overdesigned.

Every material and detail was chosen to add warmth, texture, and character while keeping the space functional for everyday living.

I can’t wait to share more from this project soon!!

I wanted to reintroduce ourselves if you haven’t met us already.

We’re Kate & Bryan, wife and husband, designer and builder, coffee and construction dust, living locally in Cypress, TX! Also, we share 3 lovely kiddos (teens so pray for us).

For a combined 25+ years we’ve brought design + construction together like custom harvesting and a glass of 🍷… and somehow, we’re still married lol.

Demo day is where the vision finally starts becoming reality.

Today, this kitchen is dark, closed off, and filled with walls that no longer serve the way this family wants to live.

Over the next few months, it will become something entirely different: an Afro-Bohemian escape inspired by Moroccan architecture, organic textures, warm woods, and collected details that feel both timeless and deeply personal.

The hardest part of any remodel isn’t demolition.

It’s having the confidence to remove what’s no longer working so you can create space for something better.

And in this home, reclaiming just two feet of usable kitchen space is going to completely change how this family experiences their home every single day.
