Prepper Definition of the day. SHTF - SHTF is an acronym meaning "s**t hits the fan", though it's most commonly used to express "when s**t hits the fan". Preppers and survivalists have adopted the term to express a group of scenarios which they believe will lead to a large degradation or collapse in society.

Note: This can also be a regional disaster scenario like Hurricane Katrina.
