Have you heard about Craftcation?

You may have noticed that we're on a mission to provide you all with business and creative resources of all kinds. If you're a crafter, we have the conference for you: Craftcation. And Replica is an official sponsor!

WHAT IS IT?
A FIVE DAY business and making conference in Ventura, CA. It's happening April 19-23 and a handful of tickets are still available. You'll learn a wide variety of crafting skills, how to launch or grow your crafting business, and, of course, how to photograph your creations.

Replica is sponsoring two product photography classes and will have an area set up where crafters can photograph what they create during the workshops.

Want to add a bit of height to your photo, but don't have any tall props on hand?

This is where the prop-and-peek technique comes in! Just choose the object you want to use, then prop it up and let it "peek" into your scene. Florals and branches are a natural choice.

If you have a Replica Studio, just slide the stem into one of the Studio's corner grooves to hold it. If not, have a friend hold it, use a timer on your camera, or work some tape magic.

Want to create an eye-catching flat lay scene to feature your food or product?

Today we're sharing our styling secrets that went into creating the photo above!

To create this scene, we used the "C" composition. We placed the candle in about the center of our Surface (a bit to the left) then added our large props - the coconuts and branches - in something resembling a "C" shape.

Then we wanted to add some extra visual interest!

We placed quite a few matches in the scene at different angles with some slightly clustered to fill in the "C" and add texture.

Once we made our final adjustments, we were left with a beautifully composed "C" composition that highlighted the candle as our main subject.
