HALLOWEEN HAS ENTERED THE CHAT. 🎃

And because we’re The Velvet Echo, we don’t buy Halloween jackets, we make them!🖤

We have been taking preloved jackets and giving them a strange little second life — each one upcycled by hand with vintage Halloween images across the back. Old-school witches, black cats, pumpkins, ghosts and all the wonderfully weird Halloween nostalgia we can get our hands on.

No two are exactly alike.
No mass production.
Just preloved pieces becoming something completely new.

These ridiculous little vintage frogs hopped into the shop and frankly, they seem to have adjusted beautifully. 💚

Frogs just want to have fun. And apparently, so do we!

Ainsley and I left a little Velvet Echo mark on the back of the building today. Because apparently the front of the shop just wasn’t enough. 😂

Some vintage pieces carry more than history. They carry energy.

My mom bought these Joan & David couture suede boots at Dyer’s in Tyler, Texas in 1983. I was 9 years old, and I remember them well.

I remember her in them.

My mom was always the most beautiful woman in the room. She had this amazing energy about her—glamorous, adventurous, full of life. And these boots got to go along for some of it.

That’s what I feel when I look at them.

They’ve walked through 43 years of a life. They carry pieces of my mom’s adventures, her energy, her stories—and even a little piece of the 9-year-old girl who thought her mother was the most beautiful woman in the world.

And now, somehow, they’ve landed here. In the little vintage store that girl grew up to create.

But they aren’t staying with me.

They’re for sale, and I LOVE that. Because these boots aren’t finished. They’ve been in the closet too long!

Someone new gets to put them on and take all that fabulous history out into the world again.

New woman. New adventures. New stories.

What a beautiful next life for an old pair of boots. ❤️🥹

The 98th Annual North Texas Fair & Rodeo is kicking things off with the parade, and The Velvet Echo is opening EARLY at 8AM! 🐎✨

Come watch the parade, then you HAVE to stop and see us. Seriously. It’s practically rodeo law. 😂

We’ll have the vintage Western wear, the boots, the treasures, the air conditioning 🙌 — and we’ll be ready to cool y’all down with some COW PUNCH! 🥤🐄

Come say howdy, cool off, shop a little preloved magic, and kick off one of Denton’s favorite traditions with us.
