Rewind a couple of yearsâŚ
We made a whirlwind trip to Oregon to pick up a CNC router and some woodworking equipment from a friend. And, of course, we chose the perfect time of year to do it. February, right between snowstorms. We drove straight there, loaded everything up, and drove straight back to Wyoming.
This was one of our first projects combining that CNC router with our laser engraver.
We took an authentic whiskey barrel head, used the CNC to cut the openings for the decanter and whiskey glasses, then laser engraved Steamboat and WYOMING into the barrel head.
But we didnât stop there. We repurposed one of the barrel staves and milled WYOMING into it to create the matching display piece.
Thatâs the kind of stuff we love making at Wind River Outpost, unique gifts and mementos that arenât coming off some assembly line. Pieces with character, a little Wyoming attitude, and hopefully a story behind them.
Mike still has a little more recovery time ahead of him, but heâs already getting excited to get back in the shop and start working on some new, one-of-a-kind projects.
Sometimes being forced to slow down just gives you more time to come up with new ideas.
