We currently do not have much by way of Minky, Cuddle, whatever you want to call it. While we did find a vendor that we like better than Shannon (it won't shed all over like a snowstorm when it is cut), we have not placed that order as yet. Why? Well, we have had a lot of requests for different threads, zippers, handbag hardware, cutting mats, assorted notions, certain fabric lines, basics and blenders, and a lot of what we are asked to carry are things that nobody else carries locally (except maybe Walmart or Michaels or ((shudder)) Hobby Lobby, and when we have suggested those outlets, we are met with, "I don't want to go all the way over the hill". Well, okay, then as long as it isn't an item ethically wrong (like fleece), I will do my best to carry it. Other local quilt shops DO carry Minky, Cuddle, etc., so I don't think it is a major CRIME if I delay stocking it (as it requires a significant financial commitment, which is difficult, because so do threads, zippers, handbag hardware, you get the idea). So, the reality of being a small business is (to a point) trying to make everyone happy (and failing) while trying to stay in business (and struggling).
So, if we are out of something or running low, it isn't because we don't WANT to carry it, but we quite often have to choose what to carry and when to carry it.
I swear, we are not TRYING to p**s you off. We are trying to make sure that when we DO have that thing you want, we have it in the right color, variety, etc so you aren't having to settle.
If you are looking for Minky, Cuddle, etc, we have it in red, green and white, basically, and unfortunately, are out of everything else. Creations does have a larger selection of it at the moment, and they're nice people, so if you really need it, give them a visit. They also have a LOT of batiks (which we do not carry and have no plans to carry), so they really are your go-to for that particular fabric.
Our shop has a wonderful assortment of quilting cottons, linens, and some canvas, as well as a lot of the notions and things that other stores do not carry. All shops are not created equal and we like to work with area stores to make sure we can all coexist successfully.
