Not sure how many of you knew this? When I did the Good News Committee - everytime I asked the Daily Californian to cover something we were doing Del Hood would approve it for us. We had a lot of publicity. If you live in the area they are asking for a birthday drive-by.

Good morning, Del Hood, for those who remember, was a long time journalist for the Daily Californian. He's also an author and has written a book about the earlier days of El Cajon. He's turning 90yrs old tomorrow! His wife Sandy, is organizing a 2020s style drive by birthday celebration from 11am to 12:30pm. 764 Farview St.

The Hood family has been a part of El Cajon for a long time. It would be great if the community would take just a few minutes out of their day tomorrow and drive by to say Happy Birthday!

Looking forward to seeing hearing you all drive by!

I am here with Larry West. He is a Vietnam Veteran like Lorin was. We are members of the Lakeside VFW.
I have put him up for a contest to win pizza for a year from Marcherios. He was doing really well but someone has sneaked up and has taken first place.
I am seeking votes from any place in America.
He works really hard for his fellow veterans. I even bought a sign for the post kitchen declaring it Larry's kitchen.

A Mother's Day memory only a few will remember.
The Good News Committee sent out flyers to area elementary school students. They asked them to write a letter about why they had the best mom. We took Mother's who were grandparents and dads too.
It was very emotional. The winners "Mom's" got gift baskets and breakfast at K-Mart in the Cafe. And, read the winners letters.
One of the best things the Good News Committee did.
We wanted to do Father's Day but school was out.
