💔I’m not really sure how to write this one.
This weekend was hard. Really hard.
Our first event started out beautifully, and about an hour and a half in, the skies opened up. Downpour. Thunder. Lightning. People were running everywhere looking for shelter, and at one point we had four families packed into our little tent trying to stay dry.
Things got trampled. Things got knocked around. And eventually, as the rain slowed we were able to pack everything up and go home.
But we showed up again the next day.
The forecast was clear. No rain. No storms on the radar. We thought surely we were in the clear.
And then… the wind came.
Before the event even started, multiple tents went flying. One collided with ours, snapping the legs of our tent and sending an entire table of beads and charms crashing to the ground.
We packed up what we could (bye bye pink tent) 😭 and went home again, taking a pretty devastating loss with us.
These pictures show a little bit of what that looked like. And that third picture, That’s me sitting there sorting through beads some wine and my girls, picking up the pieces….. literally. And honestly, that moment probably meant more to me than they’ll ever know.
Because this business is more than products and tents and tables. It’s something we’ve built together. And sometimes building something means picking it up off the ground when things don’t go the way you hoped.
Anyways, today we had our last event of the weekend and I wasn’t going to miss it despite it all.
somehow… the sun came out. ☀️ The weather was beautiful. The day was peaceful.
And we got to do what we love. And see people we love!! Shout out to JESS!!
After everything that happened, today felt like a little reminder: Sometimes you get knocked down... Sometimes you stand in the middle of a field surrounded by beads, broken tent legs, and absolute chaos wondering what the hell you’re doing. 😂😭
But you pick it up.
You show up again.
And you keep going.
So, this weekend wasn’t what we hoped it would be. It hurt. It was exhausting. And yes, it was a loss.
But we’re still here.
We’re still creating.
We’re still showing up.
And tomorrow, we start again. 🤍
Thank you to everyone who supports Ivy & Milly’s. Every order, every share, every kind word, and every person who stops at our table means more than you know. 🥹📚🌸
