When Brandon and I got engaged, I knew I had to incorporate elk ivory in my wedding jewels. He’s the reason I started working with elk ivory in the first place. It’s nice being married to such an avid elk hunter, my ivory jar is always filled.

This past year has brought some big changes, including welcoming a new little shop helper into our lives! He’s still adjusting to the idea of “work,” so I’ve been slowly finding my way back to silver and creating again.

Another huge change has been stepping away from my 8+ year career to become a full-time mom and maker. A transition that has been both refreshing and incredibly fulfilling. Over the last few years, I’ve focused almost exclusively on custom work, and while I’ll still be taking on a very limited number of custom orders as our family settles into newborn life, I’m mostly just looking forward to creating whenever I can.

Is it really Christmas Eve if I’m not rushing to finish one last order? This year, I made the tough (and maybe unpopular) decision not to take on any Christmas customs—except for one local who didn’t mind waiting until the very last second. Honestly, I hate working through the holiday rush. I’d much rather be curled up watching Christmas movies and soaking in the season!
