My dad kept wondering why I was wasting his time and money on scuba diving trips because there was "nothing to see below the water". That was my original motivation for taking images of the incredible corals, fish, and invertebrates that live in our magnificent oceans that most people didn't know existed. Since those early days, I have completed over 1000 dives from Ohio quarries, Texas lakes, the

Caribbean, and the Pacific Ocean, a majority with a camera in hand. I have won several live aboard boat photo contests, and recently placed third in a judged photographic contest organized by the Colorado Photography Learning Group.

​I recently retired from the Army after 27 years of military service and am currently living in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

This bear looks like it has had a hard day!

I almost didn't stop but I am so glad that I did. This portrait captures the essence of wildlife IMO. It is not all glamorous and breathtaking. It is about surviving!

This bear exemplifies that. It is a survivor! Looking for food while the dirt and vegetation cover it's fur. It is dirty and hungry; Gritty and raw!

We want an easy life but in reality we have to fight for what we want and to live our best life every day just like this bear!

Respect the wildlife and realize the struggles they go through and if they can make it so can you and I!
