Tablecloth part 2: I started by repairing the smaller holes to try and develop a technique. Here are some before and after photos from the less damaged half. Now I'm moving on to the larger holes and then the torn off corner. More to come!

Quilt part 1: Here are some before photos of the quilt I am repairing. After discussing many options, the owner has decided to have the small holes in the interior quilt squares repaired with matching darns and the whole border and edge trim replaced. Check back to followmy progress.

Tablecloth part 1: Here is an idea of the condition of the tablecloth prior to repairs. Initially I attempted repairs similar to repairing a fishing net, but some of the old knots are too weak to tie new knots to them. Now I am weaving threads through the stronger sections, then across the holes, and into the stronger sections on the other sides. That seems to be working better. Stay tuned for some before and after shots in the next week.

The owner of this pillow recently moved, and the poor little penguin didn't make it unscathed. There were two holes in the painted fabric. First I unstuffed the pillow, then found a similar color and texture fabric to make the patches. I painted the orange accent color on the yellow patch, then attached it from behind. I kept as much of the original threads as possible, brushing them on the patch with a flexible adhesive. I affixed the blue patch the same way and restuffed the pillow. The repair is nearly invisible the penguins are ready to march on.

I jumped into this little project without taking 'before' photos. The owner sent a few to describe the job, so I've used those. This pillow had some stains so the owner asked if I could open it up, take the stuffing out, clean the cover well, try to remove the stains, then restuff it. Most of the stains came out with a few soaks in a mixture of dish liquid and peroxide. I couldn't resist posting it because it makes me laugh. Especially coming from the sweet owner.

Grandmas can hold a very special place in our hearts. This week I am starting two extensive 'Grandma' projects for two unrelated granddaughters. One is a tablecloth and the other a quilt. Each has 30+ holes to repair but may have hundreds of memories attached.
I have enjoyed repurposing several items that either belonged to, or were made by, my grandmothers. It is more important for me to interact with them frequently, possibly wearing them out, than to keep them unseen in a box. Much love to these ladies.

My father asked me to repair a pair of his yardwork pants. I couldn't resist adding a little visible mend. Either he won't even notice or every time he puts on the pants, he will shake his head a little, smile, and think, 'my weird kid.' First, I stabilized the tear with iron on fusing, then but a denim patch on inside and invisibly stitched the perimeter. I stitched a visible Sachiko style bulls eye on the outside to hold the patch in place.

The collar of this sweater was separating from shoulder. Luckily, the yarn was still there to weave it back together. There were also a look of pulls on the outside, so I pulled those through and tied them off on the inside, cleaning up the appearance.
