I freaked out a little when I saw dozens of these beetles all over my flowers! Turns out they are not harmful to plants (or humans), but are quite beneficial. They are Goldenrod Soldier Beetles and they are attracted to late summer flowers like zinnias, sunflowers and goldenrod. Not only do they help pollinate, they also eat soft-bodied bugs like aphids.

Happy National Sunflower Day! 🌻🌻🌻 I grew these dwarf sunflower from seed....they got off to a slow start, but they are blooming like crazy now! So petite, cute and cheerful 😍
