Celebrating 10 years of my other business!! Follow along the month of September if you’re into photo-related fun 🤩
TEN. FREAKING. YEARS. 🥹🎉
This month marks 10 years since I officially started my photography business.
I don't even know how to put into words what that means to me.
Ten years ago, I had no idea where picking up a camera would take me. I definitely didn't have a clear business plan, any idea of what I was doing, or a clue about how many people would eventually trust me with some of the biggest, smallest, happiest, messiest, most important moments of their lives.
Since then, this business has grown and changed right alongside me.
It's looked different in just about every season of my life. I've photographed tiny newborns who are now somehow in elementary school. I've been along for the ride for numerous love stories from engagement, to wedding, to starting a family. I've met people who started as clients and became friends. I've changed styles, changed cameras, changed studios, changed my mind approximately a million times, and learned a whole lot along the way.
There have been seasons where I was booked solid, months in advance, and seasons where I wondered what the hell I was doing. There have been really big wins, really hard lessons, and more behind-the-scenes chaos than I could ever fit into a social media caption.
But through all of it, you guys have kept showing up.
You've booked me. You've come back year after year. You've trusted me with your babies, your weddings, your families, your businesses, your weird ideas, your seniors, your big milestones, and everything in between. You've recommended me to your friends, shared my work, cheered me on, and helped turn something I started TEN YEARS AGO into an actual career that has supported my family and given me opportunities I never could've imagined. And I just...thank you.
Like, really, really thank you.
I never ever take lightly that so many of you have chosen me, sometimes over and over again, for the last decade. Getting to freeze moments that you get to keep forever is something I will probably never stop feeling incredibly grateful for.
I've been taking photos for a very long time. I got my first camera as an 8th grader, continued to jump into it throughout high school picking it up more and more as a hobby. Eventually things became "official" in September of 2016, in the midst of attending college and working another full time job. Ten years feels like a really big deal to me.
Throughout September, I'll be sharing 10 different thank-yous to celebrate 10 years of The Grey Collective! And they won't all look the same. We're talking discounts, giveaways, a few random surprises, some things specifically for my loyal, longtime clients, some merch, and some exciting announcements toward the end of the month!
Basically...September is going to be one big celebration and way to say THANK YOU to the people who have helped me get here.
I have no idea what the next 10 years will look like, and to be honest, based on the last 10, I'm sure there will be a few plot twists 😂 but I'm really freaking excited to find out.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for supporting me, my family, and this business through all of its many versions.
