The medieval Crown of Constance of Aragon, a precious royal crown dating from around the late 12th century.
Location: It is kept in the Cathedral Museum (Museo Diocesano) in Palermo, Sicily, Italy.
Materials: It features gold, heavy beadwork with thousands of tiny pearls, and large cabochon gemstones like sapphires, garnets, and zircons.
History: It was found in the tomb of Constance of Aragon, who was the wife of Holy Roman Emperor Henry VI and Queen of Sicily.

Thirty years ago, I made my first antique jewelry purchase at the tender age of 16. A friend questioned my decision, pointing out that the piece was used, tarnished, and scratched. I recall responding that I was drawn to its unique feel, appearance, and the inexplicable connection I felt to it.
