Check out the class samples for the Steep, Stitch, Repeat. One features a relaxed, meandering stitch. The other centers an EPP hexagon flower appliqué surrounded by a big stitch design. Once you’ve got the hang of it, this technique opens the door to sashiko style and embroidery style designs too. And don’t forget, we’ll have delicious tea, freshly brewed, waiting for you. Did you know the human eye can see about 10 millions colors? Which is why so many folks can have trouble picking color combinations, or why two best friends can see the same fabric in totally different ways. I love playing with colors and how they interact across mediums, lighting, and even arrangement next to each other. Next time you visit the shop check out some of our curated bundles. There are still open slots on our calendar! The first class being taught by Jamie is being help tomorrow, July 9, in the afternoon. She will be teaching the Hemingway pouch in its large size. If you want to learn binding techniques, zipper techniques, and the basic ideas of quilting and bag making then this class is for you. If you can’t join us tomorrow she’ll be teaching it again on the 25th!

Also on the calendar is an introduction to quilting with Sharon Whitmer! This is a two session class that will guide students through a complete quilt. From choosing and cutting fabrics to patchwork and design and all the way through quilting and binding, students will walk away with their very own table topper.

And keep an eye out because we’ve got some hand stitching classes coming soon. There will be a couple classes on hand quilting in which students will make an extra large mug rug while enjoying freshly brewed tea. And I will be starting a slow stitching series, that will explore meditative techniques like English paper, piecing or fabric collage.

UPDATE! It’s too dang hot! I don’t think I can keep the shop cool enough, at all. I am shutting down operations for the day (Thursday July 2), and we’ll be back to normal hours next week (Tuesday July 7). Hydrate, wear sunscreen, and stay indoors!

Thursday 10-2
Friday and Saturday, CLOSED
If you need something for this weekend, visit the shop early. You can also have it shipped if you give us a call or order online by noon on Thursday.

Happy Pride to everyone!! It's a great day to celebrate happiness, and love, and the incredible spectrum of humans! I finally have my pride heart pattern complete, and a few kits in the shop ready for you. I'll be making some more for trans and ace pride, and any other rainbow that I can find the fabrics to match with! I hope you can swing by the shop while you're out visiting the Frederick Pride Festival!!
