Charlotte's Cottage Quilt Shop

Charlotte's Cottage Quilt Shop Comfort, creativity, and community. Welcome to the Cottage, where our passion for quilting goes beyond the sewing machine.

Charlotte's Cottage is named after my 2 favorite Charlottes. My mom who believed you could never have enough fabric or animals. My grandaughter Charlotte who already loves the sound of a sewing machine.

I love trying new techniques, and I think everyone should be able to test the waters with minimal comment. So I’m formulating a Kit series, “Try It!” with enough supplies and a guide booklet to try something new. i would love y’all’s opinions on a couple ideas for this:

1. Big Stitch Quilting.
it would come with a 10x10 star block cheater, a thin batting, a backing fabric, thread, and needle. all you need to provide is binding and this can be finished as a teapot, the side of a bag, anything. x

2. English Paper Piecing.
this would come with fabric scraps, 1” paper shapes to make a flower, needle and thread. this would make a great coaster, or trivet with the right batting.

what other techniques would you like to see?

Hey y'all, Aidan here. In case you don't know yet, I'm the new owner of Charlotte's Cottage Quilt Shop. I've been working the past few weeks getting the shop ready to welcome this amazing quilting community back through our doors. You all have been so patient, encouraging, and excited during this stage.

Well, today is a big day! ✨ We're open! ✨ I would love for you to stop by, see the updated space, and say hello! Let's get to know each other, share pictures of our projects, and talk all things fabric, quilting, and creativity.

Store Hours ⏰
Tuesday–Saturday
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

I'm still organizing and unpacking (probably always will be), so if you’re looking for something specific, please ask. It may still be tucked away somewhere.

Come on by. Whether you’re finishing your first quilt or your fiftieth, I hope
the Cottage inspires you and feels like home. I can’t wait to meet everyone and become part of this wonderful quilting community! ❤️

Poll Time! I've gotten a few questions and suggestions about stocking the store. The quick answer is, "cotton fabrics ideal for all types of quilting." But you want to know what styles, don't you? Thus I'm taking this informal and unscientific poll.

Comment (or message) what fabrics you use most often.
Do you love florals or geometrics? cool or warm colors? forest, ocean, or jungle themes? If you like reproductions, then what era? art deco? civil war? flour sack patterns?

I want to get to know you all and your preferences. I love modern patterns, mimics of art techniques, earth tones, cats and special interest themes, and blenders (almost all). But I want to stock more than what I love :)

Milestone! Just ordered my first set of fabrics for sale.

We've got two perfect blender sets (Crimp from Dear Stella, and Celeste from Windham). I grabbed all the colors that are currently in stock, so sadly not their full collections. But plenty to get us started!

Also, I did order full sets of two Free Spirit collections, Flying South (the birds! the Eric Carle-esquw style!) and Daybreak (OMG moody watercolor textures). I basically couldn't pass them up and I know y'all'll like them too. Can't wait for these to come in!!! Eeeee!!

Setting up shop is HARD! As you can see in the first few pics, i’ve been rearranging, dusting, mopping, installing grid walls, and working my butt off. In the middle of all this, I’m handling a two year old while my husband recovers from surgery (i gave up and let her play on the floor in the waiting area). Luckily she is an eager employee, particularly skilled at demolition and unorganization.

And yeah, everyone wants to know, WHEN is the shop gonna open?? Well, I’m not sure. The best I can say is ASAP, when the first floor looks less like a disaster and the second floor is sorted and reshelved. Resuming operations will be subtle and unscheduled, so once that happens I’m going to plan a Grand Reopening weekend.

Thanks for your patience while I get things figured out. All of the support and well wishes are encouraging and appreciated!
