Keep your pups safe during this holiday weekend! 🐶
We call these the 4 Legged 4th of July Pet Safety tips! Did you know there is a 30% increase of pets running away or getting lost on the 4th?
Things to consider this weekend:
➡️ Fireworks : The sounds of fireworks can be very stressful for pets, which can sometimes cause a flight-or-flight response. It is helpful to provide a safe space or make their safe space available for your pup especially during celebrations. This could be a crate or room in the house.
➡️ Table Scraps/Leftovers: Ingestion of table scraps may cause your dog to have an upset stomach or develop a more serious condition known as Pancreatitis.
➡️ Alcohol: Consumption of alcoholic beverages can cause dogs to exhibit neurologic symptoms including coma in severe cases. Keep drinks out of reach and do not leave them unattended.
➡️ Heat: You may include your dog in celebrations outside. Please be aware heat strokes are a life-threatening medical emergency. Make sure that you are providing shade and plenty of water. Signs of heat stress include heavy panting, weakness, drooling, vomiting and collapse.
➡️ keep fireworks, glow sticks, lighter fluid, matches and citronella candles out of reach.
