Meet the Founder:
William [Bill] Pettit
1931-2011
Growing up we never shared many words but shared so many good times with many lessons. The words that were spoken were either very important to simplfying the complicated, or meant to make you laugh; Often both simultaneously.
He is the true inspiration for starting this humble side gig. In his later years he got nostalgic for days of when things were of a better quality, and you got more for your money, people would fix things instead of replacing them.
I feel in these days we could do more to budget and instead of gambling cheap china app slop products, we can get back to keeping our money locally, by buying a neighbor’s old mower, as well as stretching it further by taking care of it affordably.
My grandpa Bill spent years attending swap meets and flea markets around central WI and sometimes bugging our local metal scrap yard by loading up usable mowers, even if it meant he had to pay THEM on his scrap drop offs. (We always heard about those ones 😅) Then after putting in some elbow grease, would toss them out on the roadside with a $200-$600 For Sale Sign 🏷️ and watch his hard work go to caring homes that appreciated the good deal.
Though he’d only have 3-4 units for sale at a time, and he had no official “business” this was his hobby, his discipline. It made his life make sense to him; to provide a service for a little bit of money that reduced waste, and benefitted the community with a cheaper refurbished products instead of buying poorer quality mass produced units. Truly inspiring to my adolescence and I miss him dearly.
This is Bill’s Small Engine Service, named in his honor and carrying on in his name to guarantee quality work and affordable mentality. 100% satisfaction guaranteed because I will not take on anything I don’t feel comfortable doing. This is work I do on top of 48hrs a week on a forklift 🤙🏼
I will hear out any request for work and even if I don’t feel confident in taking it on, I will absolutely help to find you quality answers and information on where to go for service (heck I may schedule it for you if permissible)
Anyway, here is me and my Grandpa.
Sometimes I wish I got to know you better but everything you showed me has been of the upmost importance in how I view a successful life. Be useful, have a discipline you’re passionate about, do no harm, simplify, and have a laugh, even if it’s at yourself. Love you Grandpa 💛💪🏼🕊️
