Quite Alright Kites and the FRC present the next Screen Free Saturday event on SJI - a community kite flying day at South Beach on September 12th from 11am - 1pm!

Stop by the shop in Surina any time before that Saturday to acquire a kite to fly, or borrow one from us the day of the event. We will also lead a brief discussion on the history and cultural significance of kites! QuARK is all about keeping people off of their screens, so we are super excited to be co-hosting this free activity!

Shout out to Tim Clark Timothy Clark and Caleb Savage Caleb Savage for helping set this up and for being stoked on flying kites!

WSIKF was a blast! We saw so many amazing kites, had a great time bummin around the Long Beach Penninsula, made some awesome connections, and took the twins camping for the first time! I’m feeling very excited and grateful to be joining this awesome community of kite and wind enthusiasts. We brought back some awesome Revolution Kites | Quadline Stunt Kites for the shop. Of course we had to say hello to Jake the Alligator-Man at Marshes. More pics and videos to come!

NEW PROGRAM INCOMING!!

QuARK is launching our Quite Alright Kiosk program this week. Here’s the scoop -

As a small family business with limited hours we realize that we won’t always be available or open when the wind is blowing and someone wants to fly a kite. Therefore we have teamed up with 3 local businesses to offer kites for sale at their locations! Simply find a kite you dig and check the price, scan the Venmo code to pay for the kite, confirm the sale with the business where the Kiosk is located, and off you go to find a windy beach to fly your new kite! It’s as simple as that.

Starting this weekend you can now find kites available to purchase through Venmo at Greg Lewis Market on Madden and Spring Street Deli . Grab a sandwich, hop on a moped or into a scoot car, stop for refreshments at the corner store along the way, and get those new kites in the air!! 🪁

The Kite Shop is a place for exploration, curiosity, and sensation. Colors, textures, and potential energy waiting to be untethered weave together a one-of-a-kind experience. Pick up a Yo-Yo or some Juggling balls that scratch your nostalgia. Grab that stunt kite that you’ve always wanted to try! Browse through our selection of custom island themed vinyl decal stickers. Buy a gift for a friend. Have a seat and gather inspiration for your next artistic endeavor. QuARK is honored to be a part of this amazing archipelago and its community. Please help us help you by supporting our small business! Being so far off the Main Street in FH has its challenges, but every one of our customers has and will continue to be a valuable part of our story. We look forward to continuing to get Islanders off of their screens and outside.

QuARK is back in action all day Wednesday!

We’ve recently expanded our offerings to include Yo-Yos, Hacky Sacks, more juggling balls, flower stick, poi, diabolos, flow stars, silk fans, and FH Ultimate frisbees and stickers! We’ve also just cut a bunch of sweet new vinyl decal stickers as well for your consideration.

BRAND NEW at the shop - We’ve got some sweet surprises for you in our spectacular Gashapon machine, compliments of our buddy Matt from Lightning Bug club. Come crank the wheel and see what kind of cool goodies you might find. Tokens for the Gacha are $5.

Also in Surina tomorrow - Driftwood Coffee Roasters open for espresso. Pop up Crystal and Gem sale at Wayfinder Wellness. Rolling Sushi serving lunch and dinner. SeaGrass playing at The Fold!

We will be open Wednesday and Friday this week. Catch us Saturday and Sunday at the LAVENDER FESTIVAL hosted by the Alchemy Art Center! We will have kites, stickers, and skill toys for sale. We’re also hosting a KITE BUILDING WORKSHOP on Sunday from 2-4pm.

We’ve also got a fresh drop of San Juan Ultimate frisbees with some sweet cephalopod graphics! Along with disc golf discs!

- OPEN FOR BUSINESS -

Quite Alright Kites is up and running! 🪁 Our current hours are Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10am - 5pm. Find us in SURINA CENTER, which is conveniently accessed through the walkway in the San Juan Island Brewing Co. parking lot, minutes from the ferry landing.

While you’re visiting make sure to hit up Rolling Sushi and Driftwood Coffee Roasters too. Also mark your calendars for Katana Boy and Big_Red_Couch at The Fold on June 26th! We will be hanging out open late that evening.

Let’s put Surina on the map! It is a gem of a local spot and we are super excited to be there and adjacent to all of our lovely neighbors including Swiftwater Electric & Solar Addie Miller Wayfinder Wellness Rene Beachem chase anderson and many more!
