If you saw my Facebook live about our monarchs we have an update.
All of our first 9 caterpillars have become butterflies and spread their wings. Last week we found 5 more monarch caterpillars hanging around, so we are now on round two. As of last night we have 1 ready to make a chrysalis, 3 big caterpillars🐛 eating and our teeny tiny one is getting bigger. But he has a long way to go to catch up with his buddies. Fun Fact: Caterpillars 💩 💩 a lot!!!! It's a constant cleaning job.

We haven't shared a red shade, so here's Bloomquist York!!!

Bloomquist York may not have massive Blooms, but he likes to make himself seen by growing 6 feet tall! 😂 York is an informal decorative dahlia that features beautiful rusty red & burgundy ombre petals. He looks even better during golden hour.

If you are looking for some MASSIVE as big as your face blooms, we've got a few dahalias that love to steal the show.

Meet:

Kelvin Floodlight - the one that started the dahlia obsession for me! I was minding my own business walking around a local nursery 3 years ago and BAM! Kelvin was in my face begging me to take him home. If you like the color yellow you will want a Kelvin of your very own.

Lavender Perfection - Kelvin's nursery mate that hadn't bloomed I love 💜, so Lavender Perfection came home with me too. She did not disappoint!!!!

Shiloh Noelle - There's nothing shy about Shiloh Noelle. She was one of our earliest blooms last year. We planted her late this year, but can't wait to see her blush and lavender swirling petals mixed with creams and whites.

Penhill Watermelon 🍉 Penhill is always up for a fun time. He loves to be the life of the party with his rich Watermelon tones of pink.

Fleurel - Fleurel has beautiful creamy ivory petals that twisting petals. Don't underestimate her beauty.

Shh! Can you keep a secret from Emily?

This Bloomquist Georgia C dahlia and she would go nuts if she knew Georgia was putting on a show out here on the farm.

Bloomquist Georgia C is a 6in blooming dahlia with lacinated petals. She's yellow with bright red and orange highlights, so 2 of Emily's favorite colors together.

Emily loves this dahlia so much, she made me do a photoshoot with her at the Farmer's Market last weekend. 😅

Sunflower Down! 🌬💨🌻😢
The storms that gave us 5 inches of rain a week or two ago also brought winds that toppled many of our 12 ft sunflowers that the birds planted in my studio gardens.
Most of the stalks I've left to continue to bloom near the ground, but this one fell on top of a row of flowers. The stalk on this plant is massive and a simple stake wasn't going to cut it. Some creative problem solving did the trick. 😆

This is Bloomquist Pleasing, and it's one of two dahlias we have that remind me of Truffula Trees. The other is Bloomquist Jean which we are waiting for her to bloom. 🧡🥰
