🚯 Think the landfill is the only option? In Geneva and across the Finger Lakes, there are several ways to keep valuable materials out of the waste stream and put them back to work.

✅ Compost food scraps
The Geneva Resource Recovery Park accepts food waste, including fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, coffee grounds, eggshells, and shredded paper for composting rather than landfill disposal. Diverting organics helps reduce landfill emissions and creates useful compost.

♻️ Recycle more than bottles and cans
Ontario County's recycling resources include options for electronics, batteries, textiles, appliances, paint, plastic film, and other hard-to-dispose materials.

🔧 Choose reuse before disposal
Visit us at ReUse Systems to donate usable goods, buy secondhand, and support the local economy.

📍 Local options are available now
Residents can use the Geneva Resource Recovery Park and access Ontario County's waste diversion programs to recycle, compost, and properly dispose of specialty materials.

Every banana peel composted, laptop recycled, and item reused is one less thing headed to a landfill. Small actions add up to a cleaner Finger Lakes.

Big thanks to Hobart and William Smith Colleges! 🙌

On Saturday, students from HWS (including nearly the entire squash team!) spent their Day of Service at ReUse Systems, where they moved our organization's plans forward in a big way.

The crew started by emptying the entire warehouse, hauling everything from massive steel and solid wood doors, to arm chairs and dining tables. Once the space was cleared, they scrubbed the floors and organized everything into neat, visible categories. Large pieces took a lot of collaboration and strategy to move, but they got it done safely!

We also got to show off our collection of salvaged lab furniture from HWS's old Eaton Hall, which RSI has already sold a number of pieces from.

We at ReUse are extremely grateful to everyone who pitched in. Thank you for your hard work, your good humor, and your muscle!
