Shop botanical goods at our farm stand, explore murals & book a tour by appointment—a place to wander & experience the land. Rooted in the Columbia River Gorge, Among the Trees Botanical Lavender Farm (formerly McLaughlin Lavender) is a women-owned, Native American-owned small farm dedicated to cultivating beauty, wellness, and community through lavender and regenerative agriculture. 🌿🪻

We grow lavender, herbs, flowers, and plant starts among native oak trees on our farm in Goldendale, Washington — creating botanical garden pockets gently woven into the land. Our goal is to work with nature, supporting pollinators, encouraging beneficial insects, and building healthy soil through regenerative farming practices. From our farm we craft a range of lavender and botanical goods — from soothing self-care products to culinary lavender and herbal offerings — all inspired by the land. You can find our products at The Dalles, OR and Hood River, OR Farmers Markets, and local events across the Columbia River Gorge, at our Little Lavender Boutique in the Market Place Underground in downtown La Grande, Oregon (1101 Washington Ave Suite 26), or by visiting our farm store in Goldendale, Washington, available by appointment along with farm tours. Our journey began with lavender plants in a backyard garden in La Grande and has grown into building a small botanical lavender farm and community gathering space. We proudly support other small businesses and makers and love collaborating with our regional farming and artisan community.

✨ Come grow with us — from seed to self-care, there’s always something blooming Among the Trees.

Well, we think it’s safe to say… the llamas and the dogs are officially buddies!

One of the sweetest parts of adding animals to the farm has been watching all of these different personalities figure each other out.

The llamas have their dogs. The dogs have their llamas. And apparently everyone has decided this arrangement is just fine. 😂

This is exactly what we hoped for as our little farm family continues to grow — animals comfortable with one another, learning their roles, and becoming their own little herd among the trees.

There’s just something about looking out and seeing the llamas and dogs hanging out together that makes us ridiculously happy.

Just another day with the crew at Among the Trees. 🦙🐾🌿

The leaves are starting to turn Among the Trees. 🍂🌳

Every day there’s a little more gold, rust and orange showing up in our oak trees, and I just LOVE this time of year.

After a long, hot summer of hauling water, keeping gardens alive, caring for animals, building, growing and constantly watching the forecast… there’s something about those first signs of fall that feels like an exhale.

The heat of summer is finally in the rearview, the mornings are getting cooler, the light is changing, and the farm is slowly shifting into a new season.

And, most importantly, it is officially aggressive soup season in our house. 😂🥣

Big pots on the stove. Windows cracked open. Cooler evenings. Leaves changing outside the cabin. This is my kind of weather.

Living Among the Trees makes every season feel a little more noticeable, but I think fall might be my favorite. 🍁

Here’s to slower evenings, cooler days, changing leaves and an absolutely unreasonable amount of soup.

A few of our dahlias made it. 🤍

After the deer broke through our fencing and devastated the garden, I honestly wasn’t sure how many of these blooms we would get to see this year.

So watching the dahlias that survived FINALLY begin to open feels extra special.

And oh my goodness… they are GORGEOUS.

After hauling water all summer, keeping our little solar irrigation system going, mulching, babying these plants through the heat, and then watching the deer eat so many of the buds just as they were getting ready to bloom — I am incredibly thankful for every single flower that made it.

And we are NOT taking any chances with the rest. 😂

We’ve now double-wrapped our electric goat fencing around the entire dahlia bed in hopes of keeping the deer far, far away from the gorgeous buds that are still developing.

There are still a few plants keeping their colors a secret, and they need just a little more time before we finally get to see their beauty.

After everything this little dahlia patch has been through, every new bloom feels like a victory.

Turns out the deer didn’t get ALL of them. 💜

Well… remember when we said TWO dogs and “more on that soon”? Meet Hushkéé. 🤍

Hushkéé — pronounced Hush-Kay — means “the discipliner” in Navajo.

He is an 8-month-old Anatolian Shepherd who was raised by Will’s parents alongside their sheep and lambs, so growing up around livestock is already part of who he is. And now, he’s beginning a new chapter here Among the Trees.

On Sunday, we had such a wonderful visit with Will’s parents and his oldest brother, and it meant so much to finally be able to show them our farm and everything we’ve built over this past year.

There was something especially meaningful about walking the property with them and sharing not only what we’ve built, but why we’re building it this way.

Will’s mom loved seeing how we’re using the sun to power our farm and how much thought we’re putting into honoring and caring for the land through regenerative and traditional practices — working with what’s already here rather than trying to change it into something it isn’t.

And they brought someone pretty special with them.

Hushkéé. 🤍

He has some BIG paws to grow into, a whole farm to learn, and Pluto to show him the ropes. Eventually, we hope he’ll become another set of watchful eyes over the animals and this little piece of land we love so much.

It feels pretty special that a dog raised by Will’s family, alongside their sheep, is now here becoming part of the farm we’re building together. There’s something really meaningful about bringing a little piece of Will’s family and where he comes from into what we’re creating here Among the Trees.

So yes… Among the Trees officially has TWO dogs.

Welcome home, Hushkéé. We think you’re going to fit in just fine. 🤍
