🐉 The Card Chris Had to Look At Twice

For Christmas 2025, Rhonda gave Chris a Dragonite.

Not just any Dragonite.

She kept telling him, “Look at it real close.”

At first, he didn’t quite get what she was hinting at. Then he finally took a closer look at the slab:

And suddenly it all clicked. 😂

Chris already loved Dragonite, but realizing exactly what Rhonda had given him made the card even more special. Today, when you ask him his favorite Pokémon card, this is the one.

Sometimes a favorite card isn’t about the biggest grade or the highest price.

Sometimes it’s the story behind how it ended up in your collection. 🖤

🃏 THE COMEBACK SHOW

Wickler’s Zards returned to the card-show floor for the first time since May — and Arlington was good to us.

Lorcana was 🔥, vintage Pokémon got plenty of attention, and three Loungefly backpacks found new homes.

But our favorite moment? A kid came to Chris with a $3 card for a trade-up challenge. Chris sent him away with a sealed N’s Reshiram promo — and one VERY happy kid. ❤️

Now it’s back to work. Our next show is September 6!

🎨 NEXT STOP FOR DISNEY LORCANA: HYPERIA CITY

Lorcana collectors, October is already coming for our wallets. 😂

Disney Lorcana’s next set, Hyperia City, arrives this fall — and Pixar’s Coco is joining Lorcana for the first time.

📅 Prerelease: October 16, 2026
📅 Wide release: October 23, 2026

Early card reveals include Miguel Rivera – Street Musician, Héctor Rivera – Street Musician, and Un Poco Loco, and the artwork we’ve seen so far is gorgeous.

We’ll be watching the reveals as October gets closer — and figuring out exactly how much room we need to make in the binders. 👀

The hoard is being prepared. 🐉

For the last week and a half, Dragon Gate has been covered in cards, sorting trays, price checks, and at least one dragon who believes supervision counts as work.

Chris has been tackling the vintage Pokémon and discovering that repricing “all of the damn vintage” is a little different when apparently everything has gone up. Meanwhile, I’ve been doing what I do best: sorting first, creating categories, getting everything into Collectr, and making Future Rhonda deal with the actual individual pricing on Friday. 😂

The Lorcana hoard is now divided into 10 for $1, $1 cards, and individually priced cards, with one final Collectr check coming before show day to make sure nothing needs to change kingdoms.

And this time we’re bringing some new treasures with us. I’m most excited about Attack of the Vine, the Loungefly mini backpacks, and the other little treasures we’ve found. Chris? Chris is excited about bringing Drakmoor and a few drabbits. Priorities. Calypso attended the last show, so apparently the creatures now have a rotation schedule.

Right now, we are somehow more organized than we’ve ever been.

Sunday morning?

Organized chaos. As tradition demands. 😂

The hoard doesn’t prepare itself.

Every card show starts long before the doors open.

This week we’re sorting inventory, checking prices, organizing binders, and making room for Disney Lorcana’s newest set, Attack of the Vine.

By the time we arrive on August 16, everything will be ready—from individually priced cards to our $1 and 10-for-$1 binders—so it’s easier to browse and easier to find your next favorite card.

The work behind the table is just as important as the time spent at it.

Two Pitch Black ETBs entered the hoard… 🃏

We picked up two boxes to rip and see what treasures were hiding inside. Once the packs were opened and the cards were sorted, we each chose our favorite pull.

Chris picked Mega Excadrill ex because it was the first full-art card we pulled from the set.

My choice was Lurantis ex—because apparently “it’s cute” remains a perfectly valid collecting strategy. 😂

One rip. Two collectors. Two very different treasures claimed for the hoard.
