"Mad Duck Ice Rods" all started as a high school project, but quickly grew into a family passion. We wanted to make a rod that was comfortable to use all day and through much R&D came up with something that is so much more than that. Most of you have learned to hold an ice rod the "crab claw" way but your ability to set the hook into a big fish and then fight it is really limited. Now put a Mad Du

ck ice rod in your hands and it naturally allows you to set the hook with your wrist and elbow while still giving you the ability to fight a fish with ease. However the best part of the rod is it's balance. It's almost like there isn't a rod there at all.

Spent most of the winter on the ice … just not the ice with fish under it. It’s a been a busy year of coaching the kids in hockey but things are starting to wind down and I was able to sneak out to the frozen lake this weekend and share some time with great friends and family.
Can’t beat this weather in February!

Still lots of ice left and some of the best panfish action yet to come. If you haven’t jumped on the “Phantom “ train yet you probably should. It’s quickly become my favorite rod in our lineup!
With the hinge point moved farther back than your typical ultra light rod, it allows you to use a vast range of jig sizes and still see and feel the bite !
