It was fun working with Andy and Brad Hall to design this year's artwork based on my carvings! Brad guided me through the process of carving the print blocks for the poster and brochure. It was fun carving a 2D image of my own 3D carvings...

The red cedar bowl I roughed out a number of weeks ago is dry and ready for branding and first coat of oil. So delighted it didn't crack while drying!!!

Happy Easter! We had a joyous day filled with celebration and visiting. Each year this holiday and the gift of Jesus soak more deeply into me and grow more meaningful.

It struck me that the names of the Gospels fit proportionally into a cross, so I've been playing with carving the names on one. I haven't hit it spot-on yet but I'm on the right track I think.

I found this cool cedar log at the city brush pile. I turned it i to a bowl, carved the surfaces with a palm gouge, and am trying to dry it out without cracking. I wish you could smell the pictures! It fills the shop, house, and my clothes with the best cedar smell!

Also experimenting carving it into some birds. It carves so easily but is very soft so well see how it holds up.

In the grain seems to be something out of Minecraft.....very rectangular shaped cream patterns among the pink.

Thinking spring despite the eleventy inches of snow that is on the way.

I was looking for a simple carve for my kids, and I adapted this from a spring garden decor painting my mom made years ago, probably a pattern from some type of crafting magazine.

Oiling small black walnut bowls...this species takes oil so well!!

I can play the spoons like piano keys! Turn up the volume on this while in a room with another person and watch their puzzled look appear :)
