I had one of my operations managers from back in my Walmart days stop by a few weeks ago. His wife had this cool brass coffee table base and wanted a unique wood piece for the top.
We picked out this cool looking Sweetgum slab that was full of character with minimal clear epoxy to fill the voids. I think this piece came out beautifully with her brass base 😃

We just delivered these beautiful clear polished dining and coffee tables made by my nephew Aidan Gall and they are gorgeous! Collin and Tammy have been following Ol Loggin Sawmill for over 5 years now and have always wanted one of our tables. Now that they are retired they just built an amazing home just outside of Oklahoma City and wanted some pieces of our work. They enjoyed the experience by being able to watch their pieces through the building process from our content!
The 66” x 66” dining table and the 4’x6’ coffee table are made from a Sweetgum Tree that was taken from one of the storms in Arkansas and we saved it from getting turned into firewood. After a year process of milling and kiln drying we then surfaced and prepared the slabs into a mold we made and added over 40 gallons of Ol Loggin Epoxy between the two with custom welded steel bases!
Aidan sanded from 100 grit up to wet sanding to 6,000 grit and then 3 stages of 3M car polish all totaling a little over 160 hours of labor. My wife Lupe Govea and I delivered them and then explored the OKC nightlife. We had a blast throughout the whole process. We have delivered many tables throughout the years and love meeting new people from all around the country. Bought this boat used back in 2007 when I was 26 years old. It was in bad shape and needed a little love ❤️
The Epoxy floors came out beautifully and the foam boat decking adds for grip. Was going to put silica sand for the walnut floor door to prevent slipping but didn’t want to take that shine away so for now I am just going to throw a towel over it when getting in and out of the water. What do you guys think?

I got a call from a very emotional customer that was told her Black Walnut Tree had to come down. It was showing signs of it dying. The tree was so massive that it became a safety concern. She told me that the arborist gave her my name if she wanted to see her tree get a second life rather than it go to waste. I teamed up with Jess Brown with (Brown and the boys tree service LLC) they have all the BIG TOYS to remove massive trees like these in residential area’s. The customer was told that this was recorded as one of the biggest trees in North West Arkansas. I am currently doing research to see if that is recorded. If that is the case we will be tagging each piece and documenting the process! If you want to be put on the list for one of these rare slabs to be turned into a table send me a DM. These will air dry for at least one year before placing into our state of the art high performance IDRY Wood vacuum kiln 🔥
