Official Statement from Horror Ink
We want to address recent changes regarding our involvement with certain organizations and events.
Recently, Horror Ink was informed that we would no longer be participating in a partnership and that future event opportunities connected to that relationship would not continue. This decision was unexpected for us.
We want to be very clear: Horror Ink holds no ill will toward any organization, board member, volunteer, vendor, or individual involved. We are not interested in attacking, blaming, or speaking negatively about anyone.
That said, we would be dishonest if we pretended this does not hurt.
The loss is not only financial. As many of you know, events are an important part of how we support ourselves, especially while dealing with ongoing health challenges and limited work opportunities. The financial impact is real.
More importantly, however, is the personal impact. We believed we had built genuine friendships and meaningful relationships through these events. Losing those connections so suddenly has been heartbreaking.
We are disappointed in how the situation was handled, but disappointment and heartbreak are not the same as hostility. We respect everyone’s right to make decisions they believe are best for their organizations.
Our focus moving forward will remain the same as it has always been: writing books, creating art, supporting mental health awareness, helping people feel less alone, and showing up for the readers and communities who continue to support us.
To everyone who has reached out with kindness, encouragement, or support, thank you. It means more than you know.
We’ll keep moving forward, even with a heavy heart.
