In my previous post I shared the funny little plaques I made from junk mail and cardboard. Here's the first I've painted. I've never painted a bear before, and I know he's a little folksy! 😆 But our furry friend will have a special place of honor very soon where he'll fit right in to all things folksy, rustic and slightly whimsical.
Big D and I are in the works of a new adventure. Will keep you posted! 🥰

1. Cuddling with Lucy.
2. Didn't like the flowers.
3. Today's quick sketch

Our Lucy is almost 17, she isssss the boss of us and she's spoiled rotten.
I struggled painting flowers on the current piece, but will hopefully give it another go tomorrow. I've been laid up yet again this summer. I'm fine!!!! But am on antibiotics and have to take it easy. It's been a summer of weird things. Food poisoning, week long cold, back issues, etc. I tried to paint those flowers while in pain, and man, it shows. I've got a bag full of art supplies next to my bed, which honestly keeps my spirits up. Even if I just scribble. But I've been enjoying my quick sketches of little characters I dream up in my head. Today's sketch was inspired by a post I saw recently, but I've got to go find it. I'll pin her feed in the comments. 🥰

Quick unfinished sketches using no. 2 pencil. I've started to draw on watercolor paper in case I'm tempted to take my characters further.

Truth be told, I've felt under the weather all week. It's not one thing, but a damn accumulation of things that have made me tired and achy. So I've tried to rest and sketch for fun. 🥰

I'm just so proud of Jenny! She has worked in the studio for the past 3 Mondays, creating her own masterpiece. Her swag lamp made from junk mail paper clay and a collection of shells is going to glow in her office!

I'm proud of her for another reason. Jenny, aka Soulgood Bakehouse is a hard working business owner, baker and cook! She rises at 3 am to bake and cook for fine venues such as Bangor's European Market. I know she puts a lot of hours into her business, and am happy to see her taking some time for herself and trying something new. 😘

WIP & INPUT NEEDED: Our neighbors were going to put this 4 ft. box out on the side of the road, so of course I sent Big D over with the truck to grab it! You'll see in the photos a very bland end of my studio that faces the driveway. I thought about digging and creating another garden bed there, but I kept putting it off. I'm glad I did! I'm about 75% done and this is where I left off today.

I WOULD LOVE your input gang! WHAT would you plant in this large box? I'm getting a late start, so obviously something that will bloom from now until it's time for some mums. I like a cluttered cottage vibe! It will sit on the ground on top of approximately 6" of granite rocks. It will go under the windows seen in pic. Thanks in advance friends! .... oh! Sunny location! 🌞 😊
