The Meet the Mountains Festival is finally here! We've got lots of amazing vendors from beautiful artists, dock diving and amaizing food! It's a little hot but we've got a good breeze, so remember to dress for sun and bring plenty of water. Hope to see y'all out here on this gorgeous day.

Rocky Fork State Park Program: Bioluminescence in the Blue Ridge
August 14, 2026 7:30 to 8:15 PM

Join Park Ranger Cory Franklin of Rocky Fork State Park for Bioluminescence in the Blue Ridge.

Explore the glowing world of Appalachia as we discover the Blue Ridge’s bioluminescent fireflies, foxfire fungi,
and glowworms.

Learn how photography can help document and identify these remarkable species while picking up tips for responsible firefly viewing, including the use of red lights, viewing etiquette, and ethical photography. You’ll also enjoy a collection of photographs showcasing Rocky Fork’s bioluminescent wildlife and receive a species checklist, firefly photography quick card, and commemorative postcard to take home.

You don’t have to travel far to discover nature’s magic. Sometimes all it takes is turning off your lights and turning on your sense of discovery.
