Runes have long been used as symbols of language, meaning, magic, and guidance.

Historically, runes were an ancient writing system used by Germanic and Norse peoples, often carved into stone, wood, metal, or bone. Over time, they also became connected with protection, divination, spiritual practice, and seeking wisdom from the unseen.

Witchy runes are a more modern symbolic system, using simple images like the Sun, Moon, Harvest, Crossroads, Eye, Waves, and more to help us reflect on the energy around us.

Light and dark meet as equals, not as opposites fighting for space, but as two necessary parts of the same cycle.

There are seasons for growth and seasons for rest. Times to hold on and times to release. Moments of clarity and moments when we are still learning our way through the shadows.

A little witch in all of us.

Tonight was one of those evenings where community, magic, and a little bit of movie nostalgia all found their way into the same room.

So grateful to The Green Cauldron for creating such a beautiful Practical Magic 2 night, and especially grateful that a little piece of Moonstone and Seaglass got to be part of it. Seeing Salt at the Threshold tucked into the evening made my heart ridiculously happy.

I keep finding the same truth written in different places.

In the turning of the Wheel.
In the waxing and waning of the Moon.
In the quiet dance between light and dark, becoming and releasing, reaching outward and returning within.

The year moves like the Moon does.

Yule holds the hush of the New Moon... the unseen seed, the promise resting beneath the dark.
Litha carries the fullness of the Full Moon... radiant, alive, overflowing with light.
Ostara and Mabon stand as mirrored thresholds of balance: one opening toward growth, the other turning toward release.

And woven through all of it is the sacred interplay of divine feminine and divine masculine energy.

Not as fixed roles.
Not as something belonging to one body or one identity.

As ancient currents within us all.

Intuition and direction.
Receptivity and action.
Mystery and structure.
Surrender and devotion.

The more closely I follow these cycles, the less they feel like separate systems and the more they feel like one great rhythm moving through everything.

Different cycles.
Same pulse.
Same magic.

We are not standing outside the Wheel, watching it turn.

We are turning with it.

Before the harvest, there is always a seed.

This September New Moon arrives in that quiet space between what has been released and what is ready to grow.

Not every intention needs to be loud.
Not every dream needs to be fully formed.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply choose what you’re willing to nurture next.

As we move toward Mabon and the season of harvest, ask yourself:
What am I ready to plant?
What deserves my energy now?
What am I willing to tend patiently, even before I see proof that it’s growing?

Tonight, plant the intention.
The harvest will come in its own time.
