Making a birthday banner for my most opinionated customer yet… who also happens to be my daughter. 😂

She picked the fabrics and gave me very specific instructions: do NOT put two rainbow letters beside each other. 😂

I got to work, followed the creative director’s instructions, and was rewarded with a, “I love it!”

A little something handmade that we can pull out for her birthday year after year.

Sometimes I sew just for my family.

My daughter picked the fabrics for her Bible cover (with just a tiny bit of steering from Mom 😊), and the result is very much Ellie.

This one tested my patience. There was a broken walking foot and more seam ripping than I’d like to admit, but I love how it turned out. More importantly, so did she.

One of my favorite details is the gathered elastic closure. It keeps her Bible closed, but Ellie quickly figured out it’s also perfect for tucking her notebook or Bible study underneath so everything stays together.

She’s cute ✨ and she’s practical.

I use these reusable bowl covers for bread dough, leftovers, fresh fruit, meal prep, and pretty much anything that would normally get covered with plastic wrap.

One unexpected bonus? My kids can put these on by themselves. No wrestling with a roll of plastic wrap or asking for help.

And yes… they even fit square containers. 😉

Which would you use one for first?

Every Sunday (or sometimes Monday) I sit down with our schedule and fill out our meal plan for the week. About 30 minutes. That’s it.

I look at which nights are packed, which nights we actually have time to cook, and plan accordingly. Then it goes on the fridge where everyone can see it.

No more standing in the kitchen at 5 PM trying to figure it out. No more “I don’t know, what do you want?” The decision is already made.

It’s a small thing that quietly makes the whole week run better.

There are some pieces that just carry a little extra weight in the best way possible. Recently, I had the privilege of making a banner for Ms. Deb. Her daughter reached out to have this made for her mama’s nursing home door, wanting to bring a little piece of comfort, familiarity, and warmth to her space.

The prettiest things we can give each other are the ones filled with thought. Every cut of fabric and every single stitch was made with so much love and respect for Ms. Deb and her family. ❤️
