It’s here! We kick off Fiddler’s Convention Wednesday at 5pm for free Gospel music night. We’re spending the rest of the week, hanging out with our friends while listening to all the talented performers. Join us at Athens State Wed-Sat. Most nights end around 9pm. Bleachers are right behind us, but bring your own chairs too.

Who's ready for a fun-filled weekend of Fiddlers??🎻

I feel like a little kid again, guessing the number of jellybeans in a jar. That number seemed astronomical at the time. It’s nothing compared to how many sunflowers are in bloom at Hubert Family Farms. I’ve never seen anything like it. This destination needs to be on your fall bucket list!

I’m parking my tent at the sunflower fields all weekend. We’ve been working on new products and more handmade wreaths with dried flowers. Hand cream is back in stock and you’ll love the new earthy scent of amber & autumn. I’d love to see you at the farm. Dress for pictures. You’ll get a kick out of all the photo props.

Fall and flannels. Are we there yet? Today is the fall equinox where night and day are the same length. We can officially straddle two seasons and dip in and out of summer as we please.

We’re spending half the day harvesting and the other half whipping up smooth and silky hand cream. We have missed it as you have, but the wait is over!

A garden-grown calendula infusion meets creamy shea butter and woodsy essential oils for a golden skin treat. The blender is whirring as I type. You will crave the scent as your skin drinks it in. Our recipe moisturizes without leaving a greasy film. Feel the difference as lotion is pulled into your skin as if it were its own.

Give me campfire, leaves, harvest, hayrides, sunflowers. Field & Forest hand cream incorporates it all this fall. Look for it on our website or message here.

Dad was notoriously late. He was probably responsible for my recurring nightmares as a fitness instructor with a hostile class awaiting a sweaty workout. Arms folded, the entire class impatient for my cassette tape to rewind since it wasn’t queued inside my battery-powered boombox.

I’d wake up thinking they could’ve at least marched in place before “Let’s Get Physical” song kicked in. You’d think I was responsible for reminding them to breathe.

Dad’s tardiness was caused by enjoying the present moment. Of all things, he even enjoyed the morning drive to work. I know because he dropped me off at high school on the way (barely before the bell). Every four-way stop was an opportunity to be polite. Wave a greeting first, then motion for strangers to go ahead of us. We were the first to stop, but the last car to go.

Perhaps there was a blooming forsythia bush on that corner. He’d point out those first signs of spring and say, “Be sure to take time to smell the roses” even though it was a forsythia.

Lately I’ve been mindful of how much I’m in a harried hurry. Now I’m old enough to be late for such a reason as smelling roses. So yesterday, I was late and the world didn’t even notice.

But I noticed three butterflies emerging from chrysalis’ on my front porch. I had no idea they were even there. I witnessed new life unfold as they beat their wings, determined to flutter. I would’ve missed their life-changing event if fixated on time. I shall practice being late more often. Thanks, Dad.

Good morning, Sunshine! Celebrate your Sunday after church with a picnic in the flower fields. Umbrella tables are available or under the shade of the tall sunflowers. (I’m reliving my days as a field trip coordinator.) Go ahead and treat yourself to a day at Hubert Family Farms. See you there!

What time are you coming to Hubert’s Family Farm today? We’re set up until 5pm along with 25 other vendors. Then I’m headed out to the flower patch to enjoy these beauties for the sunset.

For today’s market we are a flowerless flower farm! We have natural, clean products ready for you to sample. Sandalwood perfume roller is heavenly. Spearmint basil hydrosol is the freshest spritz I’ve had all summer.

Vendor spotlights: Where’s the beef? I found mine at Vaughn Farms today. They grow their own food for the cattle. Sold! Vaughn Farms

Kids love the wooden trains and planes from Knox Handmade Toys. Wouldn’t the wooden fire truck make a nice gift for a fireman? Knox Handmade Toys

Hand crocheted plushies from Honeysuckle Cove are the cuddliest. She’s making more as I type.

Jones Farm has the ugliest pumpkins ever. So ugly that I need at least three. Jones Family Farms

I’ve had my kettle corn fix from Rocket City Popperz while listening to live music. I’m eyeing homemade tamales for $3 and about to grab a hot coffee from Park and Perk. Yes, you read that correctly-HOT! It makes me feel cooler than I am 😊
