This poor boy is in need of a Foster and Rescue! Please read below what staff has to say about this wonderful boy they absolutely love him. He doesn’t deserve this please share and someone please step up to help this boy. He looks like an amazing dog.

At 92 pounds of awesome, Buddy has completely won us over here at the shelter. He's a big, lovable guy who enjoys going on walks, chasing a tennis ball (don't expect him to bring it back!), and soaking up every bit of affection people are willing to give.

Buddy will need to be pulled by a 501(c)(3) rescue due to a previous bite incident. While the details are unclear, it appears he was left unsupervised with a small child when the bite occurred. Since arriving at the shelter, Buddy has shown no signs of aggression. He has been friendly with staff and we love hanging out with this goofy guy.

To help set Buddy up for success, we are recommending a home without small children.

🚨EXTENDED UNTIL WEDNESDAY, JULY 22 AT 1:00 PM. THIS IS THEIR FINAL CHANCE. 🚨

Scarlett & her 2 remaining puppies must have a rescue hold by 1:00 PM 7/22, or they will lose their lives. They urgently need a local foster, rescue backing, & pledges to make their rescue possible.

💔 Scarlett has already lost three of her puppies.

When she was found as a stray, two of her newborns had already died. After arriving at the shelter, another puppy didn’t survive.

Now only Sadie and Serenity remain.

Scarlett is just 3 years old and is trying to care for her surviving babies while grieving unimaginable loss. Shelter staff describe her as terrified. She flinches when approached, keeps her tail tucked, and is so overwhelmed that she freezes and refuses to walk on a leash.

This isn’t a bad dog.

It’s a frightened mother who has endured trauma and doesn’t understand why everything around her keeps changing.

Her puppies are only 4 days old. They cannot be separated from their mama or transported at this age. They need a quiet, safe place where Scarlett can finally relax and focus on raising the only two babies she has left.

💔 At just 1 year and 7 months old, Aries has already spent far too much of his young life in a shelter. Every day he waits is another day he misses out on simply being a dog.

Aries is everything you’d want in a best friend. Volunteers describe him as sweet, social, and incredibly friendly, greeting people with enthusiasm and happily making new friends. He also greets other dogs politely and knows cues like come and stay, showing just how eager he is to connect.

One volunteer shared that they had a blast together, meeting people all over the neighborhood. Aries loved every minute of the adventure, proving that away from the shelter, his joyful personality truly shines.

The shelter simply can’t give this energetic young dog the life he needs. He deserves room to run, people to love, and a family where he can finally relax, play, and enjoy being young.

My Boroughbreaker writes: Aries & I had a blast! We ran into so many people and he was extremely friendly and excited. We also ran into 2 dogs that I tried to keep him away from, but failed lol. He was friendly with them and calm!!! If I told him to come or stay, most of the time he responded extremely well.

Aries came to the care center as a stray and is now looking for a loving home to call his own. Since arriving, he has been sweet, social, and friendly with staff, enjoying attention and companionship from the people around him.

Like many dogs adjusting to a new environment, Aries does appear a bit anxious at times, which is completely understandable given all the recent changes in his life. Despite this, he continues to show a gentle and affectionate personality. With patience, consistency, and a supportive home, Aries will likely continue to build confidence and settle into a routine.

7/8: Aries is used as a greeter dog. Aries approaches the gate to greet a F LMB dog. He has a soft body, wagging tail. He greets another F LMB dog at the gate with a relaxed face and walks away on his own.

Summary (5): 7/21: Aries is wide-eyed, panting. He is easily leashed and bolts out of his kennel. Once outside, he pulls to the end of the leash, spins back, and approaches handler. He is moving very quickly and putting his front limbs down to the ground and face towards the handler's feet. On the walk, he is pulling much more than usual. Handler tosses treats on the floor and rope harnesses him, making him much more manageable. He pulls into the yard on return and jumps right into the pool. Handler is attempting to coax him over to be leashed, and he evades her, jumping into the pool 2 more times. He is lured through the loop with a treat and returned to the crate. He is provided a chew for enrichment.

7/19: Aries is easily leashed and walks out of the room. He pulls towards the ramp and is brought on a walk, keeping a loose leash. He pulls into the lot to go towards the yard. He is let off leash and engages with toys tossed. He appreciates pets and follows treats into his crate.

Summary (6): 7/16: Aries is easily leashed and walks past barking dogs without issue. He is brought on a walk. They go into the yard, and he is let off leash. He jumps up seeking attention, panting with wide eyes. A toy is tossed, and Aries engages briefly and drops the toy. When the handler points to get him to engage, he paw slaps her away from the toy and blocks it. He allows himself to be leashed and is moved into a pop-up crate on return.

7.12 Aries was at the front of his kennel barking and jumping up excitedly. Staff opened his kennel door, and he continued to be a little jumpy, but staff was able to loop him. Coming out, Aries was very jumpy and spinning around. Once staff got him to the door to go outside, he pulled moderately. Aries was taken on a short walk and then into the small yard. During his walk, he pulled a little but eventually walked nicely with staff. Once Aries was in the yard, he immediately jumped into the pool and was splashing around. Going back in, he was easily looped but pulled staff the whole way back to his kennel.

7/2: Aries is dancing in his crate on approach, panting with wide eyes. He is easily leashed and brought to the yard. He is jumping on staff, unable to settle. He accepts treats offered, and they go on a walk. He pulls on and off and returns without issue.

6.24 Aries was at his crate door barking, excited to go out. He was easily leashed, but once coming out, he was very jumpy and spinning. Staff held the leash away to try to prevent him from jumping. Aries pulled moderately hard and continued to jump and spin until we got outside and down the ramp. During his walk, he walked okay, only pulling sometimes when getting excited. Going back inside, he started to pull very hard on the leash and was spinning again. Staff was still able to get him into his crate easily.

Summary (7): 6/12
Aries was standing at the front of his kennel. he is easily leashed and brought outside, ignoring neighboring dogs on the way out. He was walked around the building and brought to the yard. The drag leash was secured to him. Aries runs around the yard quickly and jumps on staff frequently. He remained very close to staff, accepting pets. Upon return, he goes directly into his kennel without issue.

6/9: Aries was in the yard engaged with a soft toy. As the handler approaches to take a photo, he rushes towards her. She steps back, and he recovers, engaging with the toy. At the end of the session, another toy is tossed towards the entrance; he trades toys and allows all handling to be returned without issue.

6/8: Aries is standing at the kennel front, panting, as staff arrives. He is easily leashed and brought to the yard, ignoring neighboring dogs and pulling hard on the way out. A drag leash is secured to him, and he explores very briefly. Aries comes back to staff, accepting pets with loose body language. He jumps up on staff frequently. When staff sits on the bench, Aries jumps into their lap. He remains very close to staff throughout the interaction. When it is time to return, he goes directly into his kennel without issue.

5/28: Aries was easily leashed and ignores barking dogs in passing. He is brought to the yard and a drag leash is attached. He remains close to handler, following them to the bench. He accepts pets, but as they continue, he begins panting heavily. When pets stop, he zooms back and forth in the yard. Handler decides to bring him on a walk. He is tolerant of being rope harnessed and walks nicely. He returns without issue.

Seven is introduced to a novel female while off leash. He initially approaches with a forward frame, high-flagged tail and will loosen slightly as the female bounces along the gate. He continues to follow the female along the gate as she moves. Due to Seven's reported bite incident, the interaction is kept to a gate greet.

Summary (6): 7/20/26: Seven is sitting at the front of his kennel as handler approaches. He is able to be leash with ease, and he then pulls hard on the way outside for a walk. On the walk, he continues to pull hard ahead while heavy panting. He would launch towards pigeons that he was walking towards and is comfortable approaching the handler to receive treats. He has no reactions to dogs or people and pulls hard while heavy panting on the way back to his kennel and enters with no issues.

07-20-26 : As the handler gets closer, Seven is lying in the center of his kennel. He is easily leashed but does not stand. He gets up and leaves the kennel by himself when the leash is on him. He is taken outside for a morning stroll while pulling mildly. Seven doesn't seem really interested in the handler. He is very energetic and very interested in his surroundings, sniffing and all. Without any problems, Seven is brought back inside and put back in his kennel.

7/13/26: Seven is at the front of his kennel with a loose and wiggly frame as the handler approaches. He is leashed with ease and will walk out to the play yard with the handler. They show him a ball and he is immediately focused on it, walking right beside the handler and occasionally bouncing high into the air but does not attempt to grab the ball. Once in the play yard, Seven's collar is clipped with a drag leash and he is free to roam around the room. He will then engage in a game of fetch with the handler and will even jump into the pool after a ball. He is returned to kennel with no issue and secured safely.

Summary (7): 7/6/26: Seven is at the front of his kennel with a neutral frame. He is leashed with ease and will walk out of the kennel quickly and will pull moderately to the play yard, where his collar is clipped to a drag leash. He will then run around the yard chasing the pigeons out of it and then will approach the handler and jump up on them. They will redirect him with a treat. He chases it and will then jump over the bench a few times. The handler will then treat and trail him over the A-frame. He will then turn around and go up it again but stops at the top right in front of the handler. They give him some treats and then lure him off. He will then play a game of two-toy fetch with the handler for a while before he is returned to the kennel with no issue.

06/15/26: Seven is lying in the middle of his kennel as the handler approaches. He does not stand up, but is leashed with ease. When the leash is on him, he stands and exits the kennel on his own. He is brought outside to the play yard where he sniffs around. Seven shows very little interest in the handler. He doesn't always accept treats, but will occasionally take them. Seven is brought back inside and returned to his kennel with no issue.

06/09/26: Seven is lying in the middle of his kennel as the handler approaches. He does not get up, but he allows the handler to leash him. When the kennel door is fully opened, he stands up and hops out. In the office, Seven sniffs around. He maintains a somewhat tense body throughout the entire time that he is out. He shows some interest in treats, but does not interact much with the handler. The handler is able to clip the leash and return him to the kennel without issue.

Recommendations comments: No children (under 13): Due to Seven's bite history, resource guarding, and potential for defensive behaviors, we recommend an adult-only home at this time.

Place with a New Hope partner: Due to all noted concerns displayed in a home environment and during his handling assessment, the behavior department recommends that Seven be placed with a New Hope placement partner who is able to provide an experienced adult-only foster home. A period of decompression is recommended to allow Seven to acclimate comfortably to his new environment; force-free, reward-based training only is advised when introducing him to new and unfamiliar situations. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended for guidance to safely manage/modify any behavior Seven presents with outside of the care centers.

Single-Pet Home/Recommend No Dog Parks: Due to the bite incident that occurred between Seven and the resident dog, we feel that he should not visit dog parks and be the only resident dog. The Behavior Department recommends that he be socialized in a more controlled setting until is behavior towards other dogs can be further addressed. Reward-based, force-free training can be utilized to help Seven associate dogs with things he enjoys like toys or treats.

Resource guarding: During the toy portion of his assessment, Seven moved away, became tense and started body blocking when the prop hand approached while he had a toy. Nothing should ever be taken directly out of Seven's mouth, and any time something is removed he should be rewarded with a high-value treat or toy. * NYC ACC RATING SYSTEM *
All adopters/foster go through screening process set by NYCACC, which involves submission of pertinent documents, an interview with ACC adoption counselors, to determine if dog is suitable for the home. Dogs can go beyond Northeastern States as long as the adopters go to the ACC in person to pick up the dog.

Level 1
Dogs can go to homes with little dog experience, with children no younger than 5 years old.

Level 2
Dogs can go to homes with some previous dog experience, and with no children under 5 years old.

Level 3
Dogs can go to homes with more experience, and with no children under 13 years old.

Level 4
Dogs can go to ADULTS ONLY homes with very experienced adopters or fosters

Dogs need to be pulled by a New Hope Rescue, homes would be screened by a New Hope rescue and by the ACC, for suitability. Adopters, fosters need to be highly experienced, and have no children below 18 years of age
