Treasures from thrift stores and yard sales! Thrifting is one of my MOST favorite activities! My most recent adventures have landed me: 3 Needlework magazines from the 1960s; a first aid book from 1957 with some cool illustrations; a sweet little Charlie Brown nature book; a cute vintage tin with little note paper; vintage flash cards; a box of various beautiful greeting cards; blank paper to tea dye (which I'm always looking for); and some non paper related treasures that I couldn't walk past. 🥰

Lastly in the Salvaged Stories Collection is Bud. Like Ester, Bud is the real name (or nickname) of the woman in the photograph. There's something so meaningful about knowing her name. It transforms the vintage photograph into a small piece of someone's real life. I imagine Bud enjoying a day on the lake in her new boat. She enjoys paddling around and wading along the shoreline to observe minnows and wildlife for inspiration for her next painting.

From the Salavaged Stories Collection, meet Ester. I imagine Ester taking a country walk in early spring around her family farm with a loved one and stopping at the top of the ridge to take photos. I sense that her and her loved one are enjoying the spring sun after a long and cold winter and relishing in conversations of current life and happiness. An interesting detail about this journal is that Ester is the actual name of the young woman in the photograph! While I imagined her story, the name is true to her. Ester's journal is my favorite out of the collection!

Next from the Salavaged Stories Collection is Dorothy. When I came across this vintage photograph, I imagined a fun and adventurous young lady who is taking a summer stroll with her friends, when they came upon a river and decided to take pictures. This little scrappy notebook gives vintage summer vibes and Dorothy reminds me of the freedom and adventurous spirit of youth.

First from the Salavaged Stories Collection, Ruby and Helen. I imagine two sisters standing to take a photograph together after church one summer afternoon. They look like two girls who enjoy each other’s company and have spent many nights staying up late laughing, and many days going on outdoor adventures around their home. I LOVE the slightly grungy aesthetic of this journal! Now Ruby and Helen have a new home where they can help bring someone else's story to life.
